toontownman
Decent, another solid pick up for York, article also says Braveheart returning for the first time 🤔 confirmed too. Exciting additions along with Martin Graciar, when he is confirmed. Get them in the country now! Edited January 6, 2022 by toontownman

Bison44
Ahhhhh, that explains a lot. Stalteri had a better option (MLS) to go to. Hope he takes this and runs with it. aredding77, Ansem and toontownman

Big_M
Minatel apparently likely to York...they already have seven internationals...maybe minatel now counts as domestic or an international is not able to get in the country https://calgarysun.com/sports/soccer/cavalry-loses-major-pieces-farsi-yao-nash-in-off-season-look-to-replace Meanwhile, sources say Minatel, who Wheeldon Jr. was open to bringing back, is likely to land with York United, joining former Cavs assistant coach Martin Nash, who took over the GTA club as head coach in December. toontownman
He is a hard worker but wonder just how much that injury has taken out of him. Having some experience and leadership in that young squad is necessary though. Great work ethic. I am quite excited for York this year. IF they get all their signings in the country. 3rd times the charm.

We have a solid team, some good young players, looking forward to who else we bring in. Hopefuly we will make the playoffs again this season with a couple more solid signings. I think Halifax will be challengers this year, tbf it seems an attractive prospect for players compared to other teams... But Hamilton still seem to be edging it right now (sadly!). Buchta
A recent interview with Martian Graiciar. https://www.sport.cz/clanek/fotbal-ostatni-s-fotbalem-chtel-skoncit-novy-zapal-nasel-v-torontu-byl-jsem-znechuceny-rika-graiciar-3082171 The translation with google is 'ok'. It is interesting to read York contact him through instagram. He wanted to give up on football after some long term injuries but this opportunity came up. He has always wanted to live in North America.

Ozzie_the_parrot
Something I have been wondering about for a while is whether Carlo Baldassarra and Greenpark Homes are still actually involved with York United or whether the league quietly took over after the first season. Big_M
Baldassarra family is very much there https://kitchener.citynews.ca/around-ontario/jim-brennan-out-as-head-coach-technical-director-of-york-united-fc-4787505 Initially Brennan, a native of Newmarket, Ont., was part of the club's ownership group along with Preben Ganzhorn and Carlo Baldassarra, chairman and CEO of Greenpark Group. McNab said that structure was revised when Brennan signed his contract extension, with the Baldassarra family now sole owners. #parrotout HochelagaFC
Ozzie_the_parrot
That comment and the childish hashtag will no doubt receive some likes from the usual suspects but the more astute will note that there is a difference between owning a team in official legal terms and being actively involved in overseeing its day-to-day operations. The timing of the ownership structure change mentioned coincides with when I think the league may have stepped in to operate the team (basically when Preben Ganzhorn exited and was replaced by Angus McNab after season one's fiasco). Greenpark Homes' primary interest was probably about using a 12,000 capacity stadium as part of a wider real estate deal out in the boonies in York Region. All talk of an SSS for Y9/YU is very much on the back burner now for reasons that should be obvious. Ozzie_the_parrot
There was talk of a fan group safe standing area when Angus McNab took over. Maybe now COVID appears to finally be moving towards being just another endemic respiratory virus they'll revist that again. longlugan
Ozzie_the_parrot
One league operated team to the other? ...We have also learned that York United has club options through to 2024 for both Julian Ulbricht and Tobias Warschewski. What’s more, it appears that the duo aren’t the full York United contingent en route to FC Edmonton through loan, either...
