Pacific FC - 2022 Season

They kept it late but Pacific finally clinch their playoff spot. Still up in the air where they'll finish in the top 4. It depends on how Ottawa's last game goes but If Pacific lose the midweek game to Hamilton they could potentially aim to lose against Calgary to avoid Forge in the semis...

Also, doesn't seem like Merriman and the coaches have a clear preferred starting XI. They've rotated through 3 LBs all year, neither of the current strikers have won the top spot and they've gone back and forth between a 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 based on available players.

It is the last game on the schedule so Pacific will have played all their games before that.

Pretty sure that's it for Pacific in 2022. More negatives than positives this year. Hopefully some of the good players stick around for next year.

Considering the hand dealt before and during the season, I think Pacific did well.

- losing key players to biggest rivals.

- losing Kah

- Injuries

- CL qualifying run adding extra travel and games

- losing Diaz

All with the smallest roster in the league.

The squad and supporters will likely be disappointed but isn't over just yet.

The Stew Young bit perhaps being the worst part, if the stadium was what swung the election. We don't need support for municipal soccer stadia being viewed as a political albatross. Is the hydro pole moving a done deal or is it just the capacity expansion that is now in doubt?

https://www.oakbaynews.com/news/langford-votes-polls-now-closed/

In an unexpected twist that will send shock waves throughout Greater Victoria, political newcomer Scott Goodmanson has beaten long-serving Langford Mayor Stew Young in the 2022 municipal election.

Goodmanson won with 53.1 per cent of the vote, getting 4,483 votes to Young’s 3,796...

Goodmanson will be joined on council Langford Now slate members Kimberley Guiry (4,255 votes), Colby Harder (5,072), Mark Morley (4,048), Mary Wagner (4,844) and Keith Yacucha (4,579)...
