Good list! As another local Edmonton V, I'd thought I'd chime in. Caveat, I haven't been out and about much during COVID, so not sure what the scene is like these days.

Edmonton nightlife is split into two areas; Downtown and Whyte Ave. Whyte is near the U of A and the crowd generally reflects that, while downtown generally is a slightly older crowd (generally).

For those looking for more of a party rather than a lower key pub Downtown, I'd recommend heading to the 109 St-Jasper Ave area. You'll find the Common (listed above), Central Social Hall, Greta Bar, and the Pint. The latter 3 are "pub-clubs" (i.e. pub by day with a dj/dancefloor at night). I'm starting to get too old to go out, but when the mood strikes, the Common is a good choice for DJ spinning some great hip hop.

Red Star is also one of my favorite places downtown.

For those venturing south of the river to Whyte (it's a quick Uber from downtown), the Black Dog is probably my favorite place in Edmonton. Main floor is a pub vibe (but is packed on weekends), dart boards etc, while the upstairs has a rooftop patio (likely closed by now) as well as an indoor dancefloor section with great tunes.

For those looking for something a little more higher end, the Lobby bar at the JW Marriott is great for drinks and has a great vibe on the weekends; the same goes for Alchemy cocktail bar on the 2nd floor of JW.

Feel free to DM/ask any questions about any recommendations for food/drink etc.

My friend who lives there usually takes me to The Commercial on Whyte Ave but the last time I was there some of my colleagues seemed concerned that I might get stabbed so it may not be the best choice.

Commerical/Blues on Whyte has a great patio in the summer. Inside/winter It's got an "interesting" crowd with some character, haha.

Kinda sounds like my situation.
I had a few friends that moved out to Edmonton to “work” after highschool (which was over a decade ago)….I don’t want to ask them where to go or connect for the reason of ending up somewhere sketchy.

I thought we were all piling into the the Chez Pierre after the game. 😇
