With the capacity increase only four days before , where the Leafs crowd doubled and about 7k more were allowed at BMO one of the biggest issues was simply getting staff recalled. They simply could not get enough staff as apparent by the fact no concessions were open on the second level of the east side.

Were there any similar issues with getting ticket holders through the gates for the Leafs game as there were for the Canada game?

They put the call out for shifts , you can choose to put yourself down for BMO, Scotiabank , even Ricoh. The word was put out to be there early, I lined up and got in the moment the gates opened. It was not just staffing levels but it was completely unorganized. Never seen the issues they had before with people trying to get in from all over the place. It was a mess.

It didn’t help that they didn’t open the doors at 6 like they said.  It was 6:15 by the time they started letting people in. They should have opened at 5:30.  Hopefully going forward it’s not an issue but I can’t foresee any moments moving forward in the near future where it will impact a large crowd at BMO until the Jamaica game, where vaccine mandates will likely be lifted barring setbacks

Don’t want to start a big COVID debate but things are looking pretty good out there.   The number of new cases has been dropping quite a lot as we approach the big kick off.  Pretty happy to see this trend.

What is the whole situation in Edmonton like?  Indoor dining?  Limited capacities?  Masks only when moving around inside?  I know these seem like trivial questions but genuinely curious as to what the rules (both official and unwritten) are from someone on the ground there.  Just trying to adopt a when in Rome attitude....

COVID is tapering off, but the Syph is still on the rise.

Must bring official proof (electronic or print) of double-vaccination, or else you won't be allowed anywhere (plane/meet-up/stadium). Show upon entry w/ photo ID. You may be asked for name/address/phone for tracing purposes but it's not common.

When sitting and eating/drinking, mask can remain off until you stand or finish your meal/beverages. Pretty chill enforcement. When standing, mask always except when food/drink enters mouth. So a big advantage to be seated.

Masks always for any indoor location (except when eating as above). It doesn't matter if the location asks for vaccination proof or not, masks always for all indoor spaces including public transport.

Mask always in Commonwealth except when in stands. Asked to stay off concourse except to quickly purchase items, use washroom...or stand in line for an hour to buy hot chocolate. This may reduce congestion on the concourse - in winter a full stadium usually means - literally - a crush-zone in the central areas of the concourse. Between the 90 minutes needed to get into the stadium and COVID the concourses shouldn't be a safety issue for either match.

Cannot meet up with more than 2 households in a private indoor setting incl. hotel room. But can have more than 2 households in public settings. No more than 20 people in an outdoor social setting. Enforcement only if there's a complaint.

For travellers:

Don't offer your QR code for scanning. The Alberta app only recognizes Alberta QR codes until probably the end of the month. Just show the text.

For Albertans:

Reminder: You don't need a QR code on your proof of vaccination for Costa Rica. You will need a QR code for Mexico. Get organized in advance....
