Results from the DFB Pokal (Jahn Regensburg made it to the 1/4 finals after beating FC Koln - Scott scored for Jahn).  Scott was scored by SofaScore at 7.39 throughout the Pokal.  This ranked him at number 176 out of the 1195 German players in the Pokal.  By reference, Alphonso Davies scored 7.5 (107th overall).  I think we're going to be ok.

It's the unknown that scares me more likely than the reality, I honestly just lack familiarity with Scott at this point. A Canadian fan overthinking on an important matchday, who could've expected that 😂

Happy for you and the family (and especially Scott) assuming we get to see his debut tonight!

Where is @MtlMario? We need some positive vibes.

Sorry I was out tuning up my crystal ball. I know a lot of people are nervous about tonight's game but I'm more nervous about One Soccer and if I can watch the game on my TV instead of my computer.😀

Anyways back to my crystal ball.

First half finishes 2-0 Canada.

Second half

2-1 (just to make us a little nervous)

3-1 (relieves a little of our blood pressure)

4-1 (everyone can breathe now)

See you all in the OCT. (i know there's another round to go).

Does anyone remember the French Guiana game from March 2019? We were nervous because they had decent French pros and we needed a win to advance to the gold cup and nations league A. In the end it was no contest and a 4-1 victory. The gold cup game versus Martinique was similar too, 4-0 and they had some decent pros. The difference here for me is that Suriname had guys who are a notch above those teams (Donk, Haps, Becker) but I believe the rest of the roster is closer to the 2 teams mentioned above.

Also, we beat the USA with Pulisic, Ream, Yedlin, Mckennie, etc playing so weve shown the ability before. Going to again to Mexico in the gold cup, who else had the euphoric feeling I had at about minute 60 when we brought on Arfield, and Osorio and the field tilted immediately? It was just too late in that game and I feel like we held back to the quarters. The idea I’m getting at is that we have the horses and we’ve beaten/ competed very well against better teams.

Betting companies probably licking their wounds after all the Over bets from the last match day.

Not pertinent to this thread but interesting none the less, that's not how sportsbooks work. If they're leveraged to much on one side they move the line to attract the other side. A book will always be fairly balanced and then collect the middle.

The hyping of Suriname has got to me, I'll admit. I'll feeling it. But the nerves are just because it's a one-off and because it's been such a long build up. We've got several players with experience winning things now, we're a different animal and we haven't yet had to show it. Get them chasing the ball, strength in attack, don't let them manage the game, and we should be good.

Watched the Suriname-Aruba game last night on Youtube. Streamed it on the TV from my phone. Had our game against Aruba on at the same time on the laptop. Extreme I know, but I really wanted to get a good comparison. Meanwhile, the wife was next to me bathing the newborn. Not sure how she deals with my unhealthy obsession with Canadian soccer. What an angel.

Anyways, conclusion? We must be at our best. Plain and simple. No different than playing a Panama or an El Salvador. And as if we were playing those teams, I expext us to win and/or get the result.

Congratulations on the newborn (and getting away with that!)

Not to derail the thread, but honestly I've been wondering if there is any suspicious betting going on. Like look at the Panama results. They can only muster a 1-0 win against Barbados and 2-1 against Dominica? Sounds to me like someone wanted to make money on the "under" (sorry, I'm not a better, I don't know the terminology and I'm sure that is totally wrong). Then all of a sudden they are able to pour it on with a 13-0 win? I don't know if the T&T players would have been on the take for their shocking draw, but those Panama results in particular look suspicious to me.
