Weekly Schedule of Our Top Players and Prospects

Bdog

Recommended Posts

I'm starting this so we can easily keep track of when our top and most hyped guys play, in case anyone is looking to catch one of their games live. I'll try my best to include if their game is being shown on Canadian TV, DAZN, or OneSoccer. I'm going to keep the list smaller, most of the players on the list either play a big role for top clubs, or have a chance of breaking into the first team in the next season or two. I'll include MLS teams when the season starts. I'm open to suggestions on who else to include, as situations change players will be added/removed.

I will try to note if the player is injured but most lineups should get posted on Twitter an hour before the game.

I guess this was always going to be subjective based on who should be here.

But I’ve watched Paton at Ross County considering it’s top flight football/easily accessible, and has been a bright spot on his team. He definitely is a top prospect for Canada regardless if our midfield is clogged and he hasn’t been called up yet.

Yeah that's a fair shout, a few years ago we'd probably be way more excited about a young player starting every game in the SPL. I'll add him to the list.

Edit: also if anyone's wondering why I left Borjan off the list, Red Star hasn't lost a game all season and I doubt he faces many shots lol. Only 7 GA which is very impressive.

I will be checking in on this thread regularly.  Thanks.

One consideration may be whether or not it makes sense to organize by date rather than by player.  If the intent is to flag games for ease of viewing, that may be a more effective way to organize things.  For example, it doesn’t immediately jump out to me that Liam is playing today so I am scanning for a “26” in the text.  Just a thought.

Either way, kudos.

It looks like Corbeanu is going to be with the u-23s again so I'll probably remove him from upcoming lists for now.

One more suggestion would be to note the games that are available through the OneSoccer platform (probably just David with Lille).  It is pretty similar to other notes subscription services (e.g. DAZN) and is the rightsholder for CPL and the Nats, so we should promote them.

I will add the OneSoccer games but for some reason I don't see the Dijon game on the schedule. Do they show every Lille game or does the occasional one get skipped?

Pretty much all of the Lille games. And it does show up on my OS app along the top scrolling section.

I just checked again and saw it there, for some reason they don’t have it under the schedule tab though.

Just another post to suggest pinning this thread to the top.  I think it could be tweaked (I def favour organizing by date rather than by player) but having this generally at the top of the page would be quite useful. Otherwise it will get buried every week.

Note sure what the process is to get it pinned but would ask the admins to consider it.

@BdogJust a correction to the above list - Pacos Ferreira play Tuesday and not today.

I usually type these up pretty quick so I might accidentally forget to delete old games/accidentally put wrong dates. It's worth double checking if I made a typo on any games you guys are interested in.

@Bdog I just noticed you edited the previous tweet so I didn’t pick up the changes, I’ll check Thursday and then post to the other thread. Message me if I miss it

I don't mind switching up the next one to align with your weekly thread, only thing is the weekend schedule tends to be busier so the it's easier to be reminded of weekend games early in the week. Though if you linked to here in your thread, at least I don't have to bump this thread mid week. It doesn't matter to me though, either format works. 👍

Just saw this - glad to have someone doing a similar thing around these parts @Bdog! (saying this as the guy that puts together the C_A schedule tweet everyday)

also just want to pose the question - would people be interested in a direct link to the C_A daily schedule tweet? would only be doing it with Bdog's blessing/enough interest, but could be nice to have all the schedules in one spot on here, as opposed to stretched across threads/platforms...

I don’t see any harm in it.  I like this thread because I am not on Twitter much and come here multiple times a day.  But the goal is to inform people so that they don’t miss games, so the more info the better.
