There a few keepers who play a lot of CPL and its a mystery as to why.  All the way up to Henry with Forge....several clubs need upgrades at keeper badly.

Yup. Henry basically cost Forge a trip to Champions League last year against Arcahaie.

I think Canada has bad depth at the keeper position in general. Even at the national team level the drop off is massive after the top 2 guys.

50:30 onwards for the CanPL part.

probably Langley for "Vancouver"

talk about co-ownership angle vs Forge & Wanderers

SixFive might sell either team if a good investor comes in

Thomas Nef claims Faths have walked away and FCE is league owned,* OEG inquired but league turned them away

then talk about Saskatoon - how it could be next Miami in stadium saga terms and Joe Belan angle

is there a Montreal team incoming? league losing money and pandemic may have cooled the interest that was there initially

------------------------------------------

* - there was a rumour on twitter from a guy from Ottawa who had a reasonable track record on breaking big stories that a CanPL club could fold. Forget if that was at the end of last season or the one before. That would fit with this and with the Faths not having been heard from in media quote terms for a very long time. You could say much the same for Carlo Baldassarra & the Greenpark Group where York United are concerned but I guess they were low profile even in year one.

said it over and over in the last few years that they needed new ownership...in the end fath simply walks away...another headache for the league...need someone who is willing to WORK and develop this club on and off the field...there should be good candidates out there

Unlikely that CPL allows a club to fold - the league would most likely operate it until they can sell it. Plenty of examples such as CFL recently

A league operated club/franchise is exactly what Thomas Nef says has happened and he's got a reasonable track record and is from Edmonton so is likely to have very good contacts there.

Wouldn't find that scenario at all surprising given the disappointing crowd levels for FCE after the 2000+ (?) season ticket pledges to save the team but still a bit concerning if groups can walk away this early despite the stated 10 year commitment made at launch.

Can only assume any offer from OEG was viewed as too low for a share in CSB if this info is accurate, because even $1 would probably be a bargain to take it off their hands right now if it was only FCE that was involved.

I doubt it's information that the league would want in the public domain so vehement denials are not surprising. This would have been a lot more difficult to dismiss if the denial came from David Clanachan & co though. We have no way of knowing for sure either way at this point basically. This is where we would need our soccer journalists to ask the question directly to the people that matter during conference calls related to the playoffs but that's probably not a good move if they want to maintain access.

... It would make sense for the Katz group to add a small soccer arena

Can't tell from the teaser video

The video makes it seem like the professional soccer, football,  basketball and baseball teams from the city are joining forces.

The Oilers aren't mentioned

Seems like these smaller teams likely see a benefit in merging their resources and talent to save costs. One advertising and marketing group, HR, event group etc.

I don’t see how or where OEG is in any of this.

Though they should have done this last year. Huge savings .. leverage different partnerships, mailing list, sass social media software etc
