The Guardian and the Offside Rules Podcast have published the latest version of their annual rankings. https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2020/dec/08/the-100-best-female-footballers-in-the-world-2020

For 2020, the rankings are based on votes made by 88 judges who consist of former players, current/former managers, and media. Judges with a Canadian connection include: Rhian Wilkinson, Harjeet Johal, and Sandra Prusina. Here are the 3 Canadians on the 2020 list with their previous rankings in brackets:

Sinclair is #31 (2019=#28, 2018=#16, 2017=#13, 2016=#6)

Buchanan is #36 (2019=N/A, 2018=#83, 2017=#40, 2016=#38)

Lawrence is #70 (2019=N/A, 2018=N/A, 2017=#66, 2016=N/A)

Previous Canadian entries include:

Some interesting stats:

Pernille Harder of Denmark becomes the first 2-time winner.

Lucy Bronze and Wendie Renard are the only 2 players to be named in the Top-10 for all 5 years.

There are only 9 Americans on the 2020 list, as opposed to their usual 16-19 players. Germany is the top nation with 13 players in 2020. Lyon is top club again with 12 players on the list.
