I can't really understand why they would try to join NISA when the CPL exists. I guess their argument is going to be that NISA is a level between the CPL and League1 Ontario, even though the high end of NISA salary budgets is supposedly right around the CPL cap.

In reality, I'm guessing they haven't thought that far ahead and/or aren't aware that they need CSA and Concacaf approval to compete in an American league. If it is led by a local investor and not the league itself, it must be to get around the CPL's much larger entry fee of 2+ million, since NISA only costs around half a million to get in. Still seems like a waste of time and money, because I highly doubt the CSA or Concacaf will approve them.

agree with you, to see these teams joining american leagues makes me think a national D2 needs to run before 2026 WC. it serves even to the canadian USL clubs.
