Match Thread: Island Games - August 22, 2020 - Forge v Pacific

Match is at 4pm ET on One Soccer and CBC.

Radio on TSN 1150 Hamilton.

Both clubs are coming off 1-1 draws mid-week. Forge were outplayed by HFX. Pacific needed a late goal to tie York 9.

Will be interesting to see if Bobby rotates his key players at all.  Front line has been switched up regularly but a lot of minutes for Bekker, Achiniotti-Jonsson, Edgar, Awuah. 

Team looked a bit gassed against HFX in their 3rd game in 6 days (taking nothing away from an excellent game by HFX).  Think Bobby was hoping they'd beat HFX and more or less clinch a top 4.  Still some work to do and he needs to find a way to rest some key players.

Haven't seen anyone step up yet to produce those big moment plays Borges offered regularly last year.  Sabak and Babouli look like fine CanPL players but so far not the offensive spark Borges was.

Nicely taken goal by Nanco, but what was Wirth thinking?

Forge hadn't really created too much up to that point, the keeper with a terrible error there!

Balbinotti really should have scored there, not sure why he didn't use his left foot!

That was coming, very sloppy defending and keeping by Forge!

Dixon ties it. Off a corner it gets to him and he puts in in.

The keeper makes Hasal look like Hugo Lloris in comparison with distribution.

A decent half of football with both teams creating some good chances, hopefully more to come!

Pacific looking really good for a couple stretches there. Would be nice to see less crossing though in open play, none of the front three are over 5'9".

Welp, all about the battle for those 3-4 places now.

Quite an ending, it looked like Pacific should have scored a late winner then Forge expose them with a late counter, great run by Bekker!

Sexy football by Pacific but some great free flowing play all round. 

Like most of those teams outside of Cavalry and Forge, the decisiveness infront of goal when it counts will cost them. Blastco strikes again and poor Campbell with almost the same chance as their last game on the opposite side clipping the post.

Pacific were worth a point at least today but fortune favours the brave.
