Match Thread: Island Games - August 18, 2020 - Pacific v York 9

Both clubs tied their opening matches on Saturday 2-2.

Is this a must win? I’d say so. Hopefully we’ll see more from the new guys (I mean Y9 when I say “we”)

It looks like we will see manny and Petrasso play. Mannella is still 5-7 days away.

I usually hate how often "must win" gets thrown around but in a 7 game round one you can't really afford to drop any points. 

York came out flat against Ottawa and can't afford to not be the dictators of the match again.  Come out with your best lineup possible for this game. If Petrasso is good to go I'd like to see him start with Telfer and Vasconcelos.  See what Gabby can bring in the first half and don't be shy to sub him at half if it isn't significantly better than what we've seen.  Manny, Di Chiara with Muro the middle.  Thompson had a good game Saturday and deserves the start again.

Both of these teams still need to play Forge and Cavalry, so close to a must win for both.

Its huge for York and the pressure will likely be more on them after being built up in the media and subsequently  disappointing in the first game. I think that is harsh on york missing key players and a very decent Ottawa side. Pacific obviously will need the win too. They have some great pieces in the squad if they get the time to click could certainly be contenders too.

Sounds like both teams didn't start with their best 11 in the first game. Important decisions for both coaches before kick-off, should be an interesting one...

Both teams being touted as clear top 4 and even challenging the top 2 leading into tournament.  This one will say a lot about 1 or both of these teams being pretenders or contenders even if it's not must win

We're looking just as useless as we did in the first half of the Ottawa game. If this keeps up, Pacific will score first. I'm sure of it.

Pretty tight game. Lacking the quality in the final third. Nice passing and dribbling but no end product yet. Couple of good chances for either wide though. Ingham made a good save.

Think york are growing into the game. Pacific have had the edge other than Chung being clumsy.

Not enough created from open play thus far for our boys. 
Without a dead ball specialist out there and no drawn up training pitch plays off of them those free kicks aren’t as threatening as they should be.

Wright has done ok so far. Some nice touches and hold up play. Not getting much in the way of service other than that difficult free kick chance he couldn't head down.

I stopped and restarted my cast. Unplugged my chrome cast and left it for 30 seconds. I tried the app on my iPad (which was watching the TFC game on TSN) but it closed as soon as it started. Then I turned off my phone (which was casting to my chrome cast) and started it up again. After a couple minutes of waiting for the cast to start again I got 5 seconds of play before it got stuck. This is frustrating!

And I’m back. Missed about 16 minutes, but back just in time for the goal!!!
