Phonsie had a really nice hockey assist on the game winning goal today.  A cross field pass where the ball was dummied in the middle of the field.

Klagenfurt has won their last 3 games.  Next game on Friday in Lustenau.  Here's the latest from their website (translation):

Kennedy passes his ordeal

For a moment, Scott Kennedy hid all the hustle and bustle around him. While his colleagues were analyzing the appearance against Lafnitz (2-1) and discussing individual game scenes, he crouched on the massage bench and looked into the void. No question, it was a special game for the defender, a test of fire - and he had passed it.

Kennedy had to wait more than a year to be in a competitive game in the starting eleven of Austria Klagenfurt. Most recently, this was the case on June 1, 2019, at the end of the season against FC Liefering (1-1). The German-Canadian was always part of the squad in the last series, he was 29 times from the start, only once did the 23-year-old sit on the bench.

Kennedy was also scheduled for Robert Micheu's current season, but the coach had to rethink early. Because the defense man was already tormented with groin problems in preparation. Again and again he made a new attempt, he was thrown back again and again. A vicious circle.

Micheu used to send Kennedy on a winter vacation earlier, spending the Christmas days with family and friends in Calgary, toiling for his comeback. Back in Waidmannsdorf, the 1.90 meter ridge went back in full and was there for test games before he injured himself again at the end of the training camp in Turkey in early February. Kennedy threatened the season off.

"When you see how things have developed, you have to say that the Corona break even helped us," says Micheu. On the one hand, the two draws against Ried (1: 1) and Dornbirn (1: 1) and the defeat in Liefering (1: 3) were difficult for the year, said the coach: "On the other hand, players who recovered had physical problems. Scott is one of them. ”

Kennedy used the forced break to get in shape. At the restart against Kapfenberg (3: 2) and at Blau-Weiß Linz (2: 1), he drew attention to himself with short missions, for the duel with Lafnitz Micheu promoted the defender for the first time in more than twelve months. "I was very happy with him. Scott has shown that his speed and tackle is very important for our team, ”emphasizes the Austria coach.

In the ascent race, Kennedy could become a trump card for the violets, and on Friday (8:25 p.m.) the performance at Austria Lustenau continues. Kennedy will be there, but knows that he has to deliver: “We have a big and strong squad, nobody can rest there. I'm just happy to be fit again and to be on the pitch with the other guys. We are in a very challenging phase of the season. Now everyone matters.
