Temperature checks, training limits and Covid-19 regulator - League of Ireland behind closed doors proposal revealed

https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/league-of-ireland/temperature-checks-training-limits-and-covid-19-regulator-league-of-ireland-behind-closed-doors-proposal-revealed-39164629.html

"For training, recommendations include that players would initially train in maximum groups of five with no contact occurring and the use of GPS monitors would be forbidden. Players would bring their own rehydration fluids and foods and take their own gear and equipment home to be washed afterwards.

- Players travelling alone to sessions but they can be dropped off by household contacts

- They must record their temperature before leaving home, and if it's greater than or equal to 37.6 they must contact club medical staff ahead of departure and they will then decide if they should attend or be referred to a GP

- All players should check their temperature with a thermometer 4 hours after they arrive home from the training session. This should be rechecked 4 hours later, and both reported to the team medical staff.

- Players should arrive in training gear and change into football boots in their car

- Their temperature upon arrival should be re-checked by a designated club official

- There should be no use of training rooms or indoor meetings

- Any outdoor meetings should be for no longer than 10 minutes with social distancing measures observed

- All training equipment (balls, bags, small goals, poles, cones) should be sterilized with disinfectant before and after the session. Goal posts should be wiped down after each session."

I don't think that the season is going to operate without restrictions at any point this year.

Forge and Valour have the stadiums to accommodate social distancing.  York and Edmonton's attendances could accommodate social distancing (based on last years numbers).

Announced as 15 but looks like 12.

Mb premier announced as part of reopening that no major sports events, concerts or festival until September

Oh, boy.  Where to start?

All of the MB premier's answers for assisting Manitobans struggling with the difficulties and hardships which for most are the everyday experiences of this pandemic begins and ends with a link to Prime Minister Trudeau's twitter feed.

Or perhaps, a promp to the Federal Liberal Party's website.

Either way the next provincial election is years away, Pallister & Co. will sit this one out, if they can.  They'll follow the herd where ever it leads.

On a positive note, all those closed door games should see OneSoccer hit their best ratings yet.

CPL should get their money, and that should open the door to closed door league matches.  If possible and conditions warrant, doors will be opened, and league will already be into the thick of it.

Hopefully CPL move quickly on this once the green lights are given.

Social distancing.......absolutely and I agree with above.  If need be, just open to season ticket holders.

CPL may have to start shopping for these as well :

Premier League clubs begin face-mask shopping amid restart plans

The amount of money needed to do the testing and quarantining involved with the English Premiership starting up again is very high and not something you could easily contemplate in the absence of crowds and with neutral venues without a huge TV deal in place, so it's better to make a comparison with what's happening with lower budget European leagues. In recent days, the SFA in Scotland have been telling people that it could be into next year before leagues start playing again and to not expect clubs in Scotland to be able to follow the same trajectory as top clubs in England.

A Vs Cup tournie?  Now there's an idea.

Bring in all the teams, give them 2 weeks to get their shit together and let's go!  Everybody totally fresh and completely unready.  One match every night through whatever format they decide on.

I'm serious.  It would be wild.  A complete disaster some nights I'm sure but wild.

Oh.  Even better.  Make some vertual supporters stand for each team when they're playing.  Let viewers create accounts and avatars so if they're watching on line their reactions can be simulated in the vertual stand.  Kind of like that one episode on Black Mirror.  Give the broadcast some real life, even if everyone looks like they stepped out of a Wii game.

I'm only half kidding.  That could be effing awesome.

Dear all,

Why BC? Why not Winnipeg, a central location where the covid numbers are low and they have a stadium.*

Also love the V-Cup tournie idea. CPL could easily be reduced to playing each other twice (best case scenario) so why not do that first.

*Disclaimer: These views are entirley based on evidence and not a personal endorsement for the City of Winnipeg.

Love you really Manitoba.

Saskatchewan xx

This makes you wonder how viable a return is, are you taking too much of a chance after two positive Coronavirus tests at Dynamo Dresden in the 2nd Bundesliga. All players, coaches, trainers, and other support staff have to go into a 14-day quarantine starting today. They won't be able to take part in the planned league restart.

Bundesliga 2 squad quarantined ahead of restart

What happens if a situation like this happens in the CPL, especially once you are back in season, meaning a second team has also been exposed.

If 2 players test positive dont they just ask those players to go home for 14 days like the rest of society? Isn't that the point of testing?

1 player tested positive during the first wave of tests.  2 more players tested positive during the 3rd wave of tests, at which point they quarantined the team.  That's the point of the tests.  Sorry if it doesn't fit the narrative you've built for yourself on how this is going to play out.

Seriously???  They stay home and everyone with a good chance of being infected (coworkers) isolates as well.  And their wives stay home, and their kids dont go to daycare etc etc.   If you wait until everyone tests positive (if you can get a test) you'll have a nice little hotspot on your hands.
