Does anybody know if he is the cousin/half-brother/relative of Kadıoğlu? Two Dutch-Canadians in the youth setup at the same club in the Netherlands, both born in the Netherlands in towns only 25km apart from each other - there must be some connection right?!? toontownman, dyslexic nam, Ruffian and 4 others

Bdog
The funny thing is that in the article for the kid next to him in that picture (Ole Romeny) it says "On January 19, 2018, he made his debut in the 3-2 away match against Almere City. He replaced his childhood friend Ferdi Kadioglu after 84 minutes." JuicyHam and CanadaFan123
shamrock
There's no connection as far as I know as 1 is Turkish and 1 is Dutch. My only guess about Frank is a Canadian mother. I tried to find something about him but it only says he comes from a football family and that both his older brothers used to play. Nothing anywhere about his Canadian ties. Jith12
An article from yesterday with some interesting tidbits: https://www.forzanec.nl/nieuws/nieuws/article/sturing-gaat-vol-voor-interlandcarriere-met-canada.html Sturing initiated contact with the CSA, they have been watching his matches from the beginning of the season His father was born in Canada but moved to the Netherlands at a young age He still hasn't received his Canadian passport. He'll need to get it before March 14 to be eligible to play. Olympique_de_Marseille, CANMNT_SUPERFAN, Shway and 12 others 10
nolando
I would have bet money that this was Frank Sturing's father, who was apparently born in Canada: https://www.transfermarkt.us/edward-sturing/profil/trainer/597 But this article says they aren't related. https://www.omroepgelderland.nl/nieuws/2304790/NEC-verdediger-Sturing-verlengt-contract Weird, they even have the same agent and have similar features. . TGAA_Star
Sturing if he is a dual national, then as far as a nationality switch, it is doable. I mean he has made Canada's provisional roster for the men when it comes to trying to qualify for the Olympics in Tokyo next summer at least from what I've read. CanadaFan123
With young Canadian center backs in short supply and 11 pro teams this might not be a bad thing... Given his age and time at the club/level it's probably time to move on anyway.
Strait Red
Article in Dutch, Google translate will convert if you have it. He is training with his old club and hoping to be picked up by another team in the Netherlands. Also mentions he received his Canadian passport in January of this year and is eligible for Canada through his Father. https://www.gelderlander.nl/nec/nec-er-sturing-wacht-op-club-en-interlanddebuut-bij-canada~a470ddb6/ toontownman, Floortom, Trois Reds and 2 others 2

toontownman
Hopefully lands somewhere around a reasonable level soon. We have hit a bit of a roadblock recently with young defenders not getting minutes. Bassong is still unattached I think? Montgomery yet to break through at dallas. Miller permanently benched and Waterman unlucky. We need a breakout somewhere! Northvansteve

Shway
He’s playing a lot for his team in Dutch second division, although they are currently in second last place. However he could be a surprise come up player like Kennedy. Unnamed Trialist, johnyb, Trois Reds and 1 other
toontownman
Cheers for the follow up. This is great news, other than his teams position. It is a solid level and surely puts him in our player pool for the U23 U24's. We have 4/5 promising younger players in Europe that are up and coming at CB. Hopefully at least a couple of them turn into long term additions to the CMNT. Dominic94
