The CSB deal with the CSA is no different now than what it was in 2019. Suspect the calculation was that the players were determined enough to go through the ratification process, so fighting that was not only going to be expensive but ultimately futile.

This has nothing to do with what you quoted. I was simply referring to the increase in money that the CSB has acquired through several sponsorships. This year alone, has seen a increase.

Yes - wages should go up faster along with the new collective bargaining which should push wages higher as well. The quality will increase however, be prepared to see better foreigners taking most of the cap at higher wages.

If the minimum wage goes up significantly, the league would be in a position to push harder to sign Canadian players with pro minutes in Europe and MLS - not necessarily paying guys with low to no pro minutes a higher wages.

Just to give an idea of where the wages would have to get to, the bench-level MLS guys are making between $90 k and $115 k CDN.

While this might not apply to the 2023 cap, eventually being competitive for slots 21 to 30 will be likely if you take into account the bonuses that aren't part of the salary cap + many other factors (playing time, exposure, experience, age, back and forth to reserve club, benched, ambition MLS vs Europe, etc..)

Clubs like Forge, Ottawa and Cavalry making a pitch with the prospect of Champions League minutes will become more attractive especially if the league keeps getting players transferred to Europe. All depends on what the player wants and their situation in the end

Lastly, won't be the last time that an MLS club mishandles another Ritchie Laryea like Orlando did or Kaye with TFC - CPL can get those kind of guys. Guys like that would be on the higher salary range in CPL due to their international pro experience but the investment would be well worth it if European clubs or other MLS clubs ends up buying once they further developed due to getting more minutes - that's also kind of the point of the league.
