One American
And Brendan Aaronson welcomes him to MLS. 😜
One American
FYI: Aaronson is apparently headed to RB Salzburg and probably to the BL in a couple of years. He's one of the top prospects in MLS. So it's not the end of the world to be beaten by him.
Floortom
Aaronson is a very good prospect but waterman looked totally out of his element tonight. Worst player on the pitch. Hope he gets another chance and does better with it

He did very well against Olimpia in Champions League. I think this has more to do with fitness and rust as he's coming back from an injury Edited September 21, 2020 by Ansem Bbeto and toontownman
toontownman
Best performance in an Impact Jersey. Calm, composed and solid tonight. Great distribution and comfortable on the ball. Congrats to Joel. Quality performance and full value for plaudits. Chad_Impact, gator, johnyb and 8 others

One American
Watching highlights of Saturday's game ..... it did not seem good. Marking grass on one goal. Missing the header clearance on a second, IIRC.

Seems to be an MLS level player, though I wouldn't call him a sure-starter at this stage. He has a lot of room to grow and has some nice tools, so he'll likely find his way into the national team before long I think. He hasn't been capped at any level so far. toontownman
toontownman
Thought he had a decent game tbh. He was excellent the game before playing the left CB role where binks was. Obinna and Nate3322

PiedPilko
What'd you all think of him today? I missed the penalty, and Laryea beat him pretty badly, but I think that distributing ability is starting to translate at the MLS level. Again, those are 2 pretty big errors, but he looks more promising already imo.
baulderdash77
He was mostly ok I think. He didn’t look out of place. The truth is that Laryea makes a lot of players look bad when he’s on. Marshall-Rutty delivered a pass where only Laryea could get it and then Laryea made that great move. It’s hard to be a central defender when a talented player like Laryea gets a ball in that kind of position. johnyb, Dominic94 and Ivan
ag futbol
I thought he looked like a substitute MLS CB but not really a starter. He lacked that little extra bit of sharpness. Off topic but Miller did well I thought. TOcanadafan, Watchmen, Dominic94 and 1 other 3

Your looking at only the foul that lead to the PK. Yes he was ball watching and yes that was bad. The rest of the game he was quite solid. He had 93% pass completion, lead Montreal in duels won and tackles as well as an assist on the 2nd goal. Obinna
I like Waterman. He is good with the ball and plays in the rhythm of the team. He has decent pace and generally defends well, but my one knock on him is his tendency to foul in dangerous areas. We saw it again today. Until he resolves this, we cannot rely on him in important games. Depth for games like Aruba or friendlies? Absolutely. Must win games with WCQ on the line? Nope, not yet. He got beat on the Laryea goal, got beat by Shaffelburg a few times. He got roasted on /MLS and by Montreal fans for being so bad.
Aird25
I thought he looked better than most of TFCs youngsters. I’m not sure he’s athletic enough though Macksam

toontownman
Nice to see him get the start and minutes but yes he was pretty poor. Lack of pace is a problem at this level and he is still adjusting. Will give him an out as basically a preseason game. He wont keep getting great chances though. Dominic94
One American
I'll be a little charitable. On the PK, the ball squirted out to the one place it could go to be dangerous. Maybe he should have shown better anticipation. And he might have been caught a little flat-footed. But I don't think it was that bad of a play.
