Euro 2020 - General Chatter

Canada 🇨🇦 has strong European heritage, so I suspect there will be plenty of interest in Euro 2020. The tourney runs from June 12 to July 12, with the semi-finals and the Final at Wembley.

What’s got you excited? Any specific matches? Anyone planning to attend?

With Iberian heritage, I’ll be cheering for Spain 🇪🇸 and for the home of my parents and the defending Euro Champions, Portugal 🇵🇹. In recent years they have benefited from more pragmatic footy, less flair, a little luck, and some guy named Cristiano. However, this time, they’re in the Group of Death with previous World Champion Germany 🇩🇪 and current World Champion France 🇫🇷, plus a country to be named later.

I also like the look of Belgium 🇧🇪 and England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 this time around. Italy 🇮🇹 is always strong, and it’s good to have Holland 🇳🇱 back. For dark horses, I like  Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Poland 🇵🇱.

Thoughts?

Total agree on the bookies! On the flip side, they usually provide excellent odds on the dark horses - I made a killing on 30:1 odds for Portugal in 2016 😁

I don’t agree about the big teams not caring as much. They definitely DO care. A lot. Because of the level of competition, winning a Euro is nearly akin to winning the WC. Not identical, but very close.

Also agree on spreading the matches around. That’s the future for big tourneys.

As I live here, I’ll be hoping England do well but like most tournaments, I’ll barely notice when they get knocked out.

Sames. Part English as well so bit of extra skin in the game for me, Italian as well so got a couple of bases covered. I expect I’ll get overly annoyed by all the “lads” being overbearing about everything as per every damn tournament

Yazici was taken off at the half, not sure if it was to save his legs for a match where he might be useful (ie where Turkey actually tried to attack) or because he did sweet fa in the first half. Poor Yilmaz had almost nothing to work with. I see Cristante came on late for Italy

What kind of stadium is this where Wales is playing Switzerland  lol, the stands are like a mile away from the field , do they use it for horse racing or motor sports too lol .

Its in Azerbaijan.

Is it any worst than the one in Roma used yesterday? Ie. stadium with a running track.

True but the stands look even further back for some reason in this stadium , but anyways the best viewing experience for in stadium fans is when your right on top of the action and it looks like most of the new stadiums are built with no tracks anymore which is good .
