Ruffian
Quote raising the spending power per club every year, from $8,490,000 in 2019 to $11,643,000 in 2024. Does this mean the cap is $8,490,000 in 2020 or cap plus GAM plus TAM?

Sounds like they are getting rid of TAM, converting it all to just GAM????

Ruffian
So in 2024 still just $11,643,000 in varied forms of caps space and some teams paying over 20 million for 3 other players. Still creates very unbalanced teams. I was hoping the cap would catch up to the cap plus average DP spend quicker.

Pedantry alert: There's no actual salary cap in MLS, it's a salary budget. $8.4 million is what every team will have available to spend in 2020, with TAM ($2.8 million) and DPs (unlimited) pushing that number upwards. Note that TAM and DP spending comes directly from the individual teams, while the salary budget comes from the league. The new mayor of Nashville refusing to move forward with the stadium project is quite the development. https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2020/01/30/mls-nashville-at-odds-with-new-mayor-over-stadium-project/ Nashville and Charlotte are great expansion cities for MLS. Fills out the South and the youth soccer programs in the Carolinas and Tenessee are ridiculously full of talent. Austin will be Atlanta level successful but right below that will be Nashville.
