Seriously classless "question" on her part. Oso's response was about what it deserved. I don't expect he or any TFC players will be accepting interviews from her in the future.

He was just displaying great frame control, denying her the satisfaction with that shit test of a question she threw at him.

Good question. Great answer.

Love it.

This got me thinking.  At first, i thought yes i agree, great question and great answer.

as i thought more about it, i’d say that it depended on several factors.   If thats a live interview, then no its not.  Thats not the time and place for that kind of question.   Secondly, who is asking the question?  Its broadcast media reporter from Montreal intreviewing a player from a rival team.  If she would ask the same kind of question to Montreal player, then its fair game.  Else,  you gotta question that.

it is very unusual in that business to hear a media ask those kind of question to personel from an team that is not local.

I get it, but I am in the camp that finds it refreshing to hear something other than generic questions lobbed over the plate.   We need our media to grow along with the program, otherwise we have no idea why Herdman calls a smaller than average squad for key matches, etc.   Maybe that sort of dirt-digging isn’t your typical sideline question but I will take it over more platitudes about “getting everyone on the same page” or a thousand other cliches we hear all the time.

I dont disagree at all.   Its just in some countries, the shit disturbing nature and invasivenes of the media can get out of hand.   I am not saying thats the case here with this interview.  Even in canada, with hockey especially, you get a lot crap that you dont need and provides no value other that to get eye balls and clicks.   Baseball is also like this.

part of me is glad that soccer is not as popular in canada as Hockey.   We can still afford to buy tickets to games for one.  And secondly,  we dont have anywhere near the stupidity that polutes the airways, cyberspace and print that you get with hockey.

i guess, what i am saying is that its a fine line.

Hockey reference incoming and depending on your age……

he is the Ken Linseman or Brad Marchand of our team

Player you would prefer to have on your team versus playing against

I would certainly not compare Osorio to a horrible turd like Marchand.  He's more of an Esa Tikkanen (but a lot easier to understand).

But i do not think that type of info is going to come from some quick sideline interviews. We do not have competitive footy journalism in this country where everyone is trying to outdo each other chasing down story unlike the silliness we have in hockey or across the ocean with UK tabloids. It would be great to see it get to that point to some extent because then we might get some really interesting stories pieces to read because of it. But that is not to take away from what some are trying to do. I do appreciate the efforts of someone like John Molinaro though.

HAHA, and dont forget no one was scoring under Floro.  And Oso sure seems like a "me" player and not a team guy... 😉 😉.  But like I said in another thread, dont look to hard into the details of these stories.  Shouldnt let silly facts get in the way of a good story.

There's the "Jonathan Osorio appreciation thread" started in '19 lol.

Maybe he's too good to have only one active thread.  :D

I can’t be sure but I thought there was an “Oso good” comment one time.

I posted this in response to @Obinnain Laryea's thread.  But it's more relevant in this conversation.

I think that I have mentioned it before in the Jonathon Osorio thread but he recently changed Agencies (maybe last winter?).  Anyways, his new agency is Sports Entertainment Group (SEG) and they have a very large connection to Dutch footballers and the Eredivisie so I would suspect that is a strong possibility.  Laryea, given his age could perhaps move to a bigger club or bigger league.

Some of the athletes with SEG include:

Martin De Roon - Dutch International playing for Atalanta in Serie A and formerly of Heerenveen & Sparta Rotterdam

Kasper Dolberg - Danish International playing for OGC Nice in Ligue 1 and formerly of Ajax

Cody Gakpo - Dutch International playing for PSV Eindhoven in Eredivisie

Daley Blind - Dutch International playing for Ajax in Eredivisie

Jairo Riedewald - Dutch International playing for Crystal Palace in Premier League and formerly of Ajax

Kevin Strootman - Dutch International playing for Cagliari in Serie A and formerly of PSV, Utrecht & Sparta Rotterdam

Jasper Cillessen - Dutch International playing for Valencia in La Liga and formerly of Ajax & NEC

Santiago Arias - Colombian Internaitonal playing for Granada in La Liga and formerly of PSV

The list goes on and on but those above were just some of the biggest names under them.  I would say that at least 66% to 75% are either Dutch Internationals or have experience in the Dutch football system.  The names above are big names mostly form the big 2 clubs in Netherlands but they have dozens of more players with the lower level Dutch teams as well.  There also seems to be a decent connection with Scandinavian players and leagues.  Other big players include Siebatchu (Pefok), Hoever, Hoedt, Troost Ekong, Locadia, Natcho and even Biseswar (from Suriname).

Well last time he was unhappy about his NT minutes he took a little fit on the bench, disrespecting his teammates.

This is much better and far more mature: I need to play at a higher level, or regularly at a similar level, to ensure my NT minutes.

My personal opinion is that he deserved more minutes in Edmonton, as he compensates a team with three attacking minded players and no one playing behind the striker. But if he is not satisfied, then great to react and seek a better set-up.

Though I would say one of his drawbacks is his salary. He is making good money, and he can't go anywhere for much less. But I would say that if does want to advance his career, he may have to be willing to take a slight drop. Otherwise he won't get bites.

The other is that he had an objectively poor season, as did TFC. Or at least no one can say he played great in spite of the team around him. So that is not a good calling card for a decent transfer: poor club year, not a sure starter for Canada, high-ish salary.

Since there is not a single viable transfer rumour coming out of Europe, he may just be making these statements to see if he can get a reaction out of Bradley. Or garner a phone call. You'd think Bradley would understand he would normally be in the core 5-7 starters and veterans who have to continue.

So my conclusion: he won't move, and he'll commit to his new coach at TFC.
