yomurphy1
Yeah, Osorio was balling and covering a ton of distance. I can't wait to see how he pairs with Eustaquio, that's a combo I'm excited with and provides a steadiness in the midfield we really need to excel. Corazon
According to his Instagram, he has joined SEG Football. His new agent is Heraldo Amado. SEG Football has a strong connection with Dutch players & the Eredivisie. Some of the former and current clients include Robin Van Persie, Mempis Depay, Marten De Roon, Kasper Dolberg, Daley Blind, Quincy Promes, Santiago Arias and Jasper Cillessen to name a few. Not sure exactly what this means, but the fact he is joining a new agency/agent, along with the departure of a head coach, his recent performances and rise in market value and lastly given his age, now might be the time he moves overseas. Shway
Very interesting discovery. I guess a move to Europe would be now or never at this point in his career. As a TFC fan I want to see it, and I don't. AS a CMNT fan, I would hope that any move to Europe would come with some game time guarantees. Corazon
I went to check to see if their were any rumours for Osorio in recent news and I saw an article pop up about how much he respected Vanney and how he was shocked to see him leave. Based on the article, I would say he is disappointed and rightfully so as he was one of the few Canadians that really emerged and developed as a player under Vanney. Secondly, I found this recent article from MLS discussing the best passers in the league. Who are some of the best passers in MLS? That question is bound to prompt different answers from all corners of the league, though data from Second Spectrum starts to tell a story – at least when it comes to completion percentage. Taking together completion percentage and completion % above expectation, it’s clear that Toronto FC midfielder Jonathan Osorio and Seattle Sounders midfielder Joao Paulo are among the best passers in MLS. Osorio passed 200 regular-season appearances for Toronto this year, while Joao Paulo has seamlessly stepped into the defending MLS Cup champion's lineup upon his offseason arrival from Brazilian side Botafogo. The below players are ranked after analyzing 25 players who have attempted at least 60 passes (on the ground) that bypass 3-5 defenders during progression phases this season. In other words, the data helps tell which players made line-breaking passes that put their team in an advantageous position. Others included are Seattle maestro Nicolas Lodeiro, Colorado Rapids midfielder Jack Price and two outside backs: NYCFC’s Anton Tinnerholm and Minnesota United’s Chase Gasper. The Lodeiro inclusion should come as no surprise, since his 10 assists were among the best during the 2020 regular season. The full breakdown is below: Completion percentage Jonathan Osorio (TOR) – 92.06% Joao Paulo (SEA) – 90.91% Jack Price (COL) – 88.89% Completion % above expectation Nicolas Lodeiro (SEA) – 8.87% Joao Paulo (SEA) – 7.17% Jonathan Osorio (TOR) – 6.79% Anton Tinnerholm – 6.01% Chase Gasper – 5.83% Edited December 3, 2020 by Corazon sebdeserio, Floortom and Ruffian
Macksam
I hope he stays and signs an extension. Obviously Europe is the ultimate dream for aspiring Canadian soccer players but we also need examples of Canadians playing their entire career at home and making good money doing it and right now Oso fits that bill and it would be nice if he continued to do so and became a lifer. Bison44
Big fan of Osorio from day one so if he can get to a decent spot in europe, more power to him. At 28 if it doesnt happen now it probably wont happen ever. Selfishly it might open up TFC midfield for the next gen of CDN kids. Obviously, it would be about living the final stage of his dream and not wanting to ask "what if?" later in his life. I don't think money is a factor given he makes $750,000 USD, possibly more than a million with endorsements....along with the fact I'd bet dollar to doughnuts everytime he goes to a bar in TO, his drinks are definitely on the house. baulderdash77
Osorio has been the best passing/ possession midfielder in MLS for a couple years. I think he’s done all that can be done at the MLS level. He’s in his prime and now would be a good (and only) time to go to a better league in Europe. I’d like to see him take a shot. A deep lying playmaker would do wonders for that team. They already have a Portuguese connection, too. Osorio would do alright with them though, I think. It's just that he doesn't have the long range game that Stephen has. hamiltonfan, Kadenge, johnyb and 1 other

They've deployed Renato Sanches in that role a few times that I've seen. If they got a pure 6 in, though, he could be pushed further forward. I can't imagine he is the type of player to move to those leagues and make much more than he already is at home in Toronto so it might not be worth it financially. Even if you do not see Mexico/South America as a top destination the does not mean that many players do actually have aspirations to play for a large Latin American club. It is tough to make it in Europe and given his technical abilities Latin America might fit his style of play. He is Colombian and was linked to the Colombia primera division at one point when OZ was in charge Independiente Medellin. Given the sports agency he is now being represented, I fully expect if he moves it is to Europe. But if Europe does not work out, I would be interested to seem him play at a high level in Mexico or South America. But a lot would depend on the club/league he would join. Olympique_de_Marseille
Not in the TFC squad today due to a thigh injury; it seems like it's nothing too serious and that he should be fit later this month and for June.
