baulderdash77
Our never ending search for Right Back depth since Mark Watson retired continues. At the beginning of the year it looked like Petrasso and Aird might be the solution but Petrasso moved full time to wing and Aird seems to have flamed out and we seemed to have moved on. Luckily some of our younger guys have obtained starting spots playing professionally this year and the CPL has given us an additional 3 Canadian starters. Here is our RB depth as I see it now: 1. Marcus Godinho -22 years- B3 Zwickau 2. Richie Laryea -24 years- Toronto FC 3. Zachary Brault-Guillard- 20 years- Montreal Impact 4. Juan Córdova - 24 years - Huachipato Chili Premier League 5. Johnathan Grant - 25 years - Forge FC 6. Kadin Chung - 21 years - Pacific FC 7. Morey Doner- 25 years - York9 Is this about right? It seems that the RB depth situation has improved in the past 12 months, although I wish Godinho played at a better level.
Gian-Luca
I'm not sure that Godinho is ahead of the next three names on the list at this point. I think Laryea is #1 at the moment Speaking of Laryea, he's surprisingly not even dressed for TFC today against Chicago. Not sure if it's just a rest because he's played so many games in the last 3 weeks, he didn't go off injured mid-week against Montreal Obinna, SirBobsaget, Ruffian and 1 other

Not an injury concern for the match on the 15th then (in fact, he should be relatively well rested as he will only play one game between now and then). badname22
For me the chart goes: -Lareya - Cordova - Godinho -ZBG - Grant -Chung -Doner king1010
HochelagaFC
For me right now it’s between Laryea and ZBG. I would like to see Cordova play with the CMNT before placing him above those two. Unless he starts tearing it up with Zwickau, I wouldn’t call him. Shway, king1010 and gator
Colliedor
I'm guessing for Herdman it's Laryea Cordova ZGB Godinho After that it's impossible to tell. For me personally though, it's more like: Laryea ZBG Cordova Doner Grant ZGB and Cordova is a little hard to tell, but I've said here in the past that I was personally not all that impressed with Cordova from what I saw of him in league play, but its still hard comparing him to ZGB however. I really don't think either Godinho or Chung are good enough to be considered. I hope Hamilton (Cavalry) continues to develop well in the future. Guest
Sad that Aird just flamed out. So much hype after he joined us. Can’t believe his stint at Vancouver was 3 years ago Edited September 30, 2019 by Guest

Floortom
Laryea is clear #1 right now IMO after that Godinho, ZBG and Cordova are fighting it out. personally I would like to see Cordova given a chance as he’s starting week in week out on a good Chilean side. ZBG has not been playing much but he’s the youngest of the bunch so hopefully he develops in the next few years. baulderdash77
Actually I re-watched the last Cavalry game last night and Zator started RB which surprised me. He looked solid but not spectacular but he could be an option potentially.

He has 8 goals and 6 assists this year and has been named to the USL team of the week on multiple occasions.

Not sure how that would bump him past ZBG and Cordova - who are both playing at a higher level (even if ZBG gets bummed from the 11 a fair bit). Definitely warrant a spot in the list, but third? Not for me. As for Cordova, it is really hard to project where he fits when most of us are just going on reputation. Having said that, being a regular in the Chilean top flight and getting plaudits fairly regularly seems pretty impressive. That is why I am itching for him to get some game time. I still can’t believe we haven’t yet seen him on the field for us. On the bright side, our lack of depth in the bacon line isn’t an issue at RB. As a pretty clear front runner, I am quite comfortable with the quality Laryea brings. If he sets the bar that challengers must beat to displace him, we are in a good spot - and he has years of growth ahead of him. BrennanFan
Sadly none of the above have been tested at a high enough level for us to be confident they'll perform well against the US. We cannot be throwing CPL and USL guys to mark Pulisic and Sargent or Altidore, we just can't, it's a non starter. Herdman did not use the CNL qualifiers to have a look at any fullbacks. Baffling. The Gold Cup was then wasted on Godinho and ZBG who were not ready. Laryea I think is a better short notice option than Cordova at this time. Cordova probably needs more time to adjust to Herdmans style than Laryea. Thus it's Laryea by default. A guy being called into just his second camp and he will be asked to have the game of his life in 2 weeks. Obinna and Corazon
