The type of player this board loves; a player nobody knew was Canadian and that is already playing professionally! ;)

His twitter:

http://twitter.com/wardesam

He re-tweeted  Peter Raco's tweet which kinda confirms the story.

Obviously not called to the latest Irish U21 (U23) squad for September but the current cycle is for 98's and younger and he is a 98':

To get playing time with the Republic of Ireland's U21(U23) squad at centre-midfield, he would need to prove he is better than:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conor_Coventry  I assume?

Obviously not the level of a senior #CanMNT player yet but certainly deserves a serious look for our U23 squad.

I'm not sure if he would need to file a one-time-switch.

No mention of the those Ireland U18 games that Peter mentions on Transfermarkt:

4th tier Australia? 5th tier Australia?

Is immigration to 🇦🇺 on his mind?

Either way, he is no longer a professional baller.

This is third tier in Australian terms and second tier in terms of the local Melbourne (Victoria) league. A bit like lower division semi-pro clubs in Scandinavia, clubs at this level in Australia will bring in a few ringers from overseas on fully professional deals. Clubs in the NSL in southern Ontario used to do something similar in the 70s and 80s and I guess L1O clubs like Electric City might do it occasionally in the present day.

Talking about him doesn’t stop people from talking about someone from CanPL…….

I think the idea is to avoid cluttering the CMNT section, there are some basic criteria (guidelines? Suggestions?) about who warrants a thread.  And while we all hope this guy kills it, someone playing semi-pro footy in the Australian 3rd tier may not justify a stand-alone thread at this point.

I agree. Basically we need to utilize the Players thread.

Kind of like we move players from Here to World Soccer when they get capped for another nation, we can have every player in the Players thread and only when they get capped at the Canada Senior team level, they get moved here.

Maybe the rule can be:

CMNT thread - Senior capped players

Players - Uncapped and Canada Youth capped players

World Soccer - Guys who switched nations

The challenge would be getting people to stick to it lol. (Also maybe move the Players  thread up above the Can PL thread, so it's move visible and right behind the national team thread - (maybe rename it to Potential Senior Team Players))

At the point this thread was created he was likely thought to be on an upward trajectory, though I agree too many threads.
