Obinna
My feelings on this roster go back and forth. On one hand, we obviously miss out on some key players from TFC, which hurts us. On the other hand, if you look at the clubs and pro experience of our roster, it is definitely better than our historical average, so in that way it's hard to be upset about it. We should do alright, I was thinking, but then I check out Honduras roster for example, a team we expect to compete against to get out of the group, and suddenly I am less impressed with our pro experience. They still trump us in this regard, but then again our somewhat lesser pro experience largely comes at a higher level (MLS > Honduran Liga). Overall, I still think we have a good shot in this tournament, but let's not look past the likes of Honduras, El Salvador and even Haiti. I bet they regret not taddijg Borges on the 50, and I do think we could have taken 1 risk in Okello if it meant having him for 2-3 games. Yeah Okello would really give us some physical presence in the centre which we are lacking. Just dont think they wanted Borges. The 50 was apparently fluid so they could have added him. I gotta disagree or ask, what is considered "a very good season". He was on a team that won 2 games....albeit he played in every single game. I think it's his versatility why he's there, as I've personally seen him play anywhere in the middle.

Aidan was highly regarded by his coach at the time (Alan Koch). Also, his team was always going to be in tough as they were relatively young and half their games were against El Paso Locomotive and New Mexico United who were both pretty solid teams. Had one or two highlight reel goals though, if I remember correctly. Dominic94
MtlMario
This is how I see it. We're in the semis vs USA, we score a perfectly good winning goal in minute 93. The Mexican ref,( can't remenber his f**king name) calls it offside (hi Atiba) and we lose in penalties. JUST KIDDING we are going to Japan this July! It’s kind of a meaningless statement. but that roster is at least a few levels above ours - it’s really not even close. I don’t think transfermarkt is the be all and end all but they probably have $30M+ of talent on their roster while we might have $6M (these are ballpark guesses) so sure - we “can” beat them but I’m looking for more then a hope and a prayer from this program. Using that logic why in the hell would any of us have the slight bit of worry about Bermuda, surely the transfermarkt number for our men's team dwarfs what Bermuda's is worth? Obinna
Better than our squad, but not significantly so. Would rather play then than Mexico in the crossovers, should we get that far. MtlMario and Dominic94

A prayer? We beat them 2 cycles ago in 2012 with a worse squad. It's a short tournament and the ball is round. This is where MLS now selling players has hurt their u23 pool. Key match for them will be the first one vs Costa Rica. If they lose, then they will need a result vs Mexico. A tie jumbles up things. Tico players have advantage of being in form and cohesiveness as most come from 2 clubs.

Sure we beat them but in the end it’s about qualifying and we didn’t in the end ,can we beat a good team when winning means you qualify that’s the hump we have to try and get over and we haven’t since 1984 in the Olympic qualifying when we made it . It’s time we start qualifying yes even for the Olympics because in Canada the Olympics are a big deal no matter the sport , it would be so good for exposure of our game if we can qualify. It will be a great first test that I think we'll definitely win (tapping into my inner @Dominic94) Here's out best XI: I'd actually replace Tabla with Twardek considering the latter has actually been playing these last months and the former it seems to be absolutely shot for confidence. Ideally you'd bring him off the bench and start him in some games and he'd hopefully get his groove back. I'd also probably start Metcalfe over Norman but there's not much to separate between them. And we know they're going to need to rotate the lineups anyway during this tournament. Underwhelming final squad overall considering the ones who didn't make it but we should be good enough to go through along with Honduras and set up a one off against a beatable USA/Mex/CR Nate3322

Uriel Antuna - Former Man City property who did well at LA Galaxy and now plays for Chivas. Attacking wide player who played for Mexico at the last Gold Cup and has scored 8 goals in 16 senior caps. Roberto Alvarado - Central midfielder who's always impressed me when I have watched Cruz Azul. Has 11 goals in 93 games for them. He was surely was one of the reasons Cruz Azul were happy to move on from Stephen Eustaquio. He's already played 20 games for the Mexican senior team, scoring 3 goals. Again, not sure about the rest of the team, but I am thinking they will handle the USA in group A. I definitely fancy a cross over against the states.. Wow ya just so much depth but having such a strong league is such an advantage for them, it really is hard to compete with them if you think about it unfortunately. No forward on the USA roster comes close to that, much less our own team. This is why I push back sometimes when people get a big d*ick for the future of the USA program, suggesting they will relegate Mexico to no. 2 in the region. Not saying it won't happen, just saying it's not a given... Edited March 11, 2021 by Obinna narduch and MtlMario
