I can see FIFA and the IOC coming to some sort of one-time agreement that allows the 1997s to be eligible for next year.

I wouldn't think that the IOC would even be party to the decision. 100% up to FIFA isn't it?

CONCACAF have stated that the postponed tournament will still take place in Mexico.

Looks like CONCACAF have changed their minds; the tournament might be moved to the USA.

https://www.eluniversal.com.mx/universal-deportes/futbol/concacaf-planea-robarle-preolimpico-mexico

March 2021 is one of the proposed dates. Other articles mention Bradenton, Florida. The IMG academy fields might indeed be ideal if all the matches have to be played behind closed doors.

Another rumour is that CONCACAF will decide something in the next week about dates and location.

Looks like it will still be 97's. So U24 in 2021.

 This is official now:

January 1st 1997 and younger. "U24" it is!

Well apparently this was only FIFA official. Now it's IOC official. So it's official-official now. ;)

If we ever get an Olympic Qualifying tournament, it will be U24. 97's and younger.

97's and younger at the games themselves + 3 overage players.

This is still scheduled for March.

CONCACAF are still looking at the possibility shifting this from Guadalajara to Florida.

The problem is they had a deal with a local company that had the contract for event in Mexico. Obviously this company cannot sell the number of tickets they originally thought they would, so there are some contract negations that need to take place. Can there still be fans at a reduced capacity? No fans at all? It also looks like CONCACAF wants to see how the Champions League 2020 unfolds in Orlando before making the final call on a change of venue.

If all the protocols end up working for that tournament, maybe it will convince them.

I was wondering what you guys think the new 50-man provisional list would look like since a year will have passed. Who falls off the list? Who gets added? https://canadasoccer.com/news/canada-soccer-announces-provisional-list-for-concacaf-mens-olympic-qualifying/

Certainly most would think Scott Kennedy has earned his spot. So who gets the cut?

Does Matthew Nogueira remain on the list as keeper? I can't find any info on Canucks Abroad and it's difficult to find info on the Maritimo U23s in terms of playing time.

https://www.transfermarkt.us/matthew-nogueira/profil/spieler/467545

Is Axel Desjardin, Joakim Milli or Alessandro Busti more worthy of that final spot?

Thoughts?

Not sure about Guadalajara, but from what it understand some Mexican states are more free than others, just like the United States.

https://theguadalajarareporter.net/index.php/news/news/regional/55822-how-another-jalisco-lockdown-would-play-out

Guadalajara is part of Jalisco state, and here is the latest info I could find on the situation down there. This suggests sports are allowed, provided it is not between 7pm and 6am.

https://www.travelweekly.com/Mexico-Travel/Insights/Jalisco-in-lockdown-as-Covid-spikes

As of Nov 13th the lockdown has prohibited outdoor crowds to under 50 people, so that may answer your question about fans.

Not sure what the latest information is, but I imagine if anything there would have been more of a loss of freedom, not less, as the trend all around the world has been to further supress gatherings as the holiday season approaches.

Three other guys that immediately come to mind: Mo Farsi, Ralph Priso, and Belal Halbouni

Based on what I noticed for recent/present playing, or during the Island Games, I would:

Drop    Boskovic, Romeo, Godhino, Legault, Metcalfe, Kouzine

Add: Farsi, Halbouni, Kennedy, David Choiniere, N'sa, Michael Baldisimo

Cheers!

Who gets cut for Priso?

Interesting.

Just to be clear,

You want Michael Baldisimo (who has played well for the Whitecaps in 2020): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Baldisimo

but not Matthew Baldisimo of Pacific FC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Baldisimo

@ShwayI don’t think you added anyone for the Aidan Daniels cut. Richie Ennin or Malik Johnson would be good shouts. But any of the 3 would be good.

David Norman should also probably retain his spot over Metcalfe given he has played professionally.

Are we sure Martin Amuz is better than a guy like Romeo? Seems to be the “sexy” choice because he’s different but really hasn’t played much at a level that isn’t exactly Italian Serie A defensively.

Metcalfe made 7 or 8 MLS appearances for Vancouver this season, for what it’s worth. I don’t think Norman saw the field for Inter Miami.
