Schuster made it clear Gutierrez is there to be the backup of Adnan and be a "challenger" so cant see it with Chile

Adnan is a very good left back and  would probably be a regular for Chile, so I wouldn't draw that conclusion on Gutierrez's Chile chances based on Schuster's comments.

Especially if he finds himself as a starter elsewhere on the field

Absolutely!!!!!.... Technically, there is still a chance he can choose to play for Chile, albeit fair (however you wanna look at it), so I also wouldn't rule down that possibility at this point!!!!!... Some strong performances, even as a sub or as you said, if he can be accommodated as a starter in another area of the field or provide serious competition to Adnan, I do not see why !!!!

The fact he is signed to a team based here + will be/is expected to play there permanently for the next couple of seasons should bode well for our chances in him leaning to us + being far more visible/accessible to CANMNT staff/scouts, however

Again, as you mentioned in another post there are already a fair number of Conmebol international plying their trade in MLS, particularly from the FAs that are not considered to be the juggernauts.... Chile is not Argentina/Brazil or even Uruguay to overlook MLS talent/regulars... The latter, though, still have some players playing regular youth fútbol from them (Diego Rossi is playing olympic qualifier at this time for Uruguay for instance)

You forgot to mention that now Perú has  become another Conmebol country with heavy representation in MLS (they have a fair number of national team players there as well)😉....... Chile is at around par with them....

A side effect of this new ridiculous way to qualify for the Hex will likely be no team close to the cutoff line (3-10) will want to schedule away friendlies that put them at any disadvantage, especially against other Hex-potential rivals. Thats why I dont think nations like Panama or Trinidad would accept accept a friendly in Canada. Nor would they accept a low drawing US based match like the January camp.

I feel the most likely out of the list above is 2 matches vs Antigua and Barbuda in Florida.

Why not? El Salvador obviously isn't going to play us, but realistically, 3-5 can't be knocked out of the top 6 and 8-10 can't make it into the top 6. They would just have the usual considerations in mind when scheduling friendlies.

No problem! It's my pleasure. Fun to do.

Looks like El Salvador is looking to play two friendlies in March.

Against Costa Rica in Washington DC and another team.

Maybe we can play 2 matches in the USA in March (or one home game and one USA game).

Perhaps against Costa Rica and the other opponent El Salvador is looking to book.

No word on if they will try to make their matches "training matches" again.

EDIT: Costa Rica staying in North America would also free up Albania if we chose to play friendlies in Europe.

Costa Rica will play Greece in New Jersey, then El Salvador in Washington DC.

This means our best option for points if we stay in North America is now Jamaica.

Jamaica Trinidad still in play.

Also T-minus two weeks until we get to see if the "training" designation went through.

So Jamaica is playing non-FIFA side Catalonia in Europe!

That's really not good for us!

Wow, you even beat me to that!

Catalonia used to play a Xmas match every year, a few days before Xmas itself. I've been to many games, and seen some amazing ones, vs. Brazil, Argentina, Bulgaria with Penev and Stoichkov (the WC semifinalist).

They've replaced the symbolic matches with the politics in the last few years.

You can't get Fifa points playing a Spanish region, but many regions do play for fun and fans and often get decent rival sides, who make money and save costs by doing a winter European stage. Canada plays too few matches for it to be worthwhile, unless we use what we would get paid to combine a match vs. Catalonia or the Basques with an official match the same week.

It’s starting to look like the CSA has fallen asleep at the wheel or they know something about El Salvador that we don’t.     Unless the Iceland game counted for them as it did for us, we needed to pick up points in March to make the last window truly count.  Perhaps the CSA is counting on ES losses and we will continue to play Caribbean countries at a moments notice to gain easy points. Unless they have some incredible master plan it is disappointing that a squad that desperately needs games to qualify has nothing announced and games are being confirmed for dozens of teams.
