We don't know the details of the deals between CanPL, Mediapro and the sponsors but somebody is definitely demanding the maximum bang for their buck to the detriment of the subscriber base. My guess would be mainly Mediapro given they are probably not in the best shape financially after the Ligue 1 fiasco. Guess it can be put down to the unusual circumstances of playing in a bubble format for now but if it continues for the remainder of the season it's going to become a major issue.

Gosh I get this with Eurocup here in Barcelona, so irritating. I think the bars who get the games might have a slightly earlier feed than us at home, not sure. In any case, I'm watching Spain put in a long centre in an attack and cheering bursts out from the bars in my neighbourhood. Then they score.

Thing is, it is hard to mute my neighbourhood.

It reminds me of when I worked at The Score for a bit, including during the 2012 Euros. We had TVs on the walls playing sports all the time, but for some reason the TV on the other side of the room was a bit ahead of the TV in front of my desk when they were on TSN. It worked out well because I could work and then I hear that something happened on the "future" TV I could look up at my "3 second delay" TV and get a super-instant replay of what happened.

Luckily for me if I wasn't working and instead just watching the game, the future TV was still in view, I just had to turn my head a bit.

There's a good 3-second or more delay right now with what's on TSN through Rogers Cable, to the same (Euro) game on Channel 9 using an antenna.

These constant replays, shots of players close up, the linesman..when there is play going on elsewhere on the pitch is beginning to do my nut in.

How about you use those annoying split screen add windows for that so we don't miss a ton of the action or be completely confused we are now playing at the opposite end of the pitch to 10 seconds ago when we last saw it. Literally you have the technology. Save the big replay full screen shots for when you actually have time. Camera work has got much worse this year imo. Needlessly.

Yes. I'm off to get a snickers.

Yesterday during the York United vs Edmonton game, York United was lining up a free kick, the ref blows his whistle to allow play to start AND THEY SHOW A CLOSE UP OF JIM BRENNAN! You can't even see half his face because he's got a mask on of course, what's the point of that? Luckily it was just for 1 or 2 seconds and they were back in time for the kick, but that upset me and had me worried I could miss a pivotal part of the game.

There are times when they are showing the minutes added clock while the game is going on and I am squinting to see the play on the far side of the field behind the official.

I don't remember it being like this the last couple years, although even in bigger matches on bigger networks there are times when they do a close up of a player after they have done something and the play is still going that annoys me.

I think it happens on most bigger networks because they're brining in a camera crew from a different sport, and they're not used the flow/pace of soccer. On a dedicated network like OneSoccer, that shouldn't be happening.

I forget which thread it was where I commented that I miss the comments section on MLSsoccer.com because it's the only place I interacted with American fans.

I also miss being able to point out to the writers that there are Canadian teams in their league so they should keep that audience in mind when writing things like this article without mentioning OneSoccer.ca.

Am I the only one that feels the dead air at halftime is brutal? Like cant they get a couple journalism students or something if cash is that tight? Can live without a pre and post game - but dead air at halftime? Awful.

Looks like after the opening weekend they really cheaped out on the broadcasts.

Even just a highlight package from the previous week's games or something would be better. Or play some old World Cup commercials throughout halftime, like the "Little Less Conversation" tournament one, or that one that had all the What If scenarios with Ronaldo getting a statue made or Wayne Rooney living in a trailer.

Assume that is similar to other streaming platforms where you can view things like team sheets and stats while you are watching the game?

They must be getting a new hosting server and platform if that's that case, right?

Seemed like they tried to add the rewind live streams feature but that was the day all their streams crashed and I never saw it again lol.

Hopefully they stop cheaping out and get their shit together in terms or people organising their schedule etc. It is worth the investment with the amount of people that are now starting to get exposed to the platform. Imo.

"Genius Sports’ data-driven marketing technology will also help to expand MEDIAPRO Canada’s domestic audience by driving OneSoccer subscriptions through personalized promotions and offers.

Genius Sports has also been granted the exclusive worldwide rights to distribute live video streams for all CPL and Canadian Championship games, which will help reach new soccer fans worldwide and drive further in-game engagement. Sportsbooks can also access official data rights to Canadian soccer through Genius Sports’ existing partnership with CSB." https://news.geniussports.com/genius-sports-announces-strategic-partnership-with-mediapro-canada-to-accelerate-the-growth-of-canadian-soccer/

This sounds like it could help get a lot more eyes on the CPL and One Soccer. Looking at their website, they've entered into similar partnerships recently for football in Colombia and Argentina. Sounds like they know what they're doing when it comes to promoting footie.

Reflecting that footy fans are into streaming and/or cord cutters, the Euro Final on TSN was the most streamed event ever for them at 425k or about 12% of the total average viewing audience. More than their other marquee events like the Super Bowl, World Juniors, Brier & Grey Cup.

But at the same time, that means that 88% of their audience still watched it by traditional means of cable and that streaming remains a bit niche.
