La Liga’s last two domestic rights packages go to Mediapro

http://www.sportspromedia.com/news/la-liga-domestic-rights-2022-mediapro

  • Lot one affords Mediapro the second choice on one game from every top-flight matchday, which will broadcast exclusively in Spain on free-to-air. After picking up lot three, the network gains rights to two live games in the Segunda Division, the Spanish second tier, on each matchday, also exclusively on free-to-air television.

In theory, Onesoccer could broadcast La Liga very soon but some games only

Not going to happen until 2024. That's why I didn't mention La Liga, because I knew about BEIN's deal with La Liga.

This is just an extension of their current deal. Yet BeIN was available on various streaming services in North America in past couple of years.

In the US, BeIN isn't widely available anymore on cable, so they need to use streaming to expand their reach. Not an issue in Canada but given the connections, there is a window for OneSoccer.

Instead of wasting money carrying fishing shows, CSL recaps, wrestling and other 3rd tier programming to meet Cancon requirements, BeIN could show OneSoccer's CPL shows and maybe even a match per week in return for showing BeIN on OneSoccer.

I would rather they spent money on a system that lets you pause live streams or rewind to the start if you come in late. Likewise a system that you don't have to wait a day after the game has finished to rewatch it.

I can rarely watch the matches live and when I do it's during the day when I have young kids or family around and being able to stop and start is necessary. The above is a major turn off having to wait and avoid scores. Most of the time I end up caving and watching the highlights if someone didn't spoil the results in the meantime. The highlights are free, why am I paying other than my loyalty to want to support the venture.

My repetitive moan aside, the pick up of the Nations League is huge. That is a lot of games. The groundwork is there and the production is good, just in comparison to the DAZN player or any other streaming service the software is a decade behind.

I wish Onesoccer had more club games, I'm kind of a weird soccer fan, I love club games, but national teams don't really do it for me.

That will come. League1 mens and women's is coming. Wouldnt surprise me If we see an increase in the Chinese/Mexican league games. Likewise medio pro have so many leagues around the world it's only a matter of time before a few more pop up.
