Still Chicago doesn't seem to want to use him at left back because of his defensive lapses so I am not sure how hard it would be to re-acquire him. As for Delgado, I just think he is the most tradeable player they have given that he is still young, useful and his salary isn't too exorbitant - and the midfield is starting to get clogged up now with the emergence of some of the other players like Fraser and with Bradley coming back. Even if he's not traded to get Edwards, presumably they need to make some room in the cap to add more TAM players as Curtis is suggesting. The constant injuries in defense means that I am not sure that they can now cut any CB's even with the signing of Gonzalez. The only other obvious cut/disposal to make roster room/cap space is Boyd, but we're being told that cutting him wouldn't save any cap space so a trade would be better (but who is going to want to trade for a striker making that kind of salary with 0 goals in 5 months in all competitions?) So for me that leaves Delgado as the top trade chip. Delgado and zavs i think could be traded. No need to pay zavs that much to be a 5th cb, they could bring in dumn to replace him. Free kick
10 hours ago, Mikmacdo said: Wow drop pozuelo for 32 year old giovinco? Lol I said, “GIVEN A CHOICE” between the two. Unless you missed that part. Of course, we would like to keep both. And yes, given choice, i still stand on what i said. Pozuelo makes 3.8 million per year. Giovinco made 5.6 million in his final year. If we ever doubted that there is an efficient market for soccer talent, this comparaison in salaries dispelled the myths of an inefficient market and reinforces the notion that you get exactly what you pay for. 5.6 mill. versus 3.8 mill suggests that you should get approx 45% more value from the 5.6 million dollar player and from what i have seen so far, i would say that’s exactly what TFC got. To reiterate, Pozuelo is good. He looks like one of the top players in the league. I knew little about him when he arrived and i would say that he hasnt disappointed. He has delivered what i would have expected from a 3.8 million dollar player judging from past comparaisons in MLS. I noticed that just like giovinco, he can deliver those pin point goal producing diagonal balls aerial balls. But Giovinco could deliver goal producing balls in many more different ways. He was much more dangerous in one on one situations. And you could tell by how often defenders had to foul him. Pozuelo looks good on free kicks, but Giovinco may have been the best ever in MLS when it came this area. Ball distribution: All player will muff some balls, but from my vantage point Giovinco was consistent and slightly better on the ball in tight spaces. The team could play a possession game with Giovinco because of the attention he drew from defenders. TFC seems to have become a team that almost exclusively relies on crosses to create scoring chances now. This is not exactly Pozuelo’s fault but he just doesnt command the same respect from opponent that creates spaces for others. TFC is also not as strong on the ball now. Again, not exactly Pozuelo’s fault. There are other factors. Secondly, they use to have a lot of formation flexibility by being able to switch easily from a diamond to a 4-4-2 for example. Now they are pretty much exclusively a 4-4-2 with balls played in space down the wing. That was because of the greater diversity in skills on the attacking third that Giovinco had over Poz in the attacking third. And, the greater respect from opponents. Tfc was far less predictable than they are now. You can also be sure that Pozuelo will be even greater next year when he has a year to acclimatize under his belt. And a proper off season, but, not a slag, one would have to be blind to not notice that you are not getting the same level of impact on the game from the two players. The spanish media in the Mexico and the US talked more about Giovinco than any other MLS player during the CCL. Doubt you will ever see that again with any other MLS player unless its someone like Vela. MLSE wanted to save about 45% on the salary of their number 10 and thats exactly what they got. Gian-Luca
He's a Venezualan - not sure which wing he plays but hopefully the right as I like Shaffelburg on the left: https://www.torontofc.ca/post/2019/07/09/toronto-fc-signs-venezuelan-winger-erickson-gallardo/
Mikmacdo
In his highlight video he was on both wings, Transfermarket says he plays more left wing but they dont even know his real birthdate apparently? Auro-Omar-Mavinga-Morrow ———-—-Bradley————— Gallardo-Pozuelo-Oso-Shaff ——————Jozy—————- I still think they need to add a striker/winger to backup Jozy in case he goes down and if Shaffleburg and or Gallardo dont workout. Obinna
I was underwhelmed at first, due to how long we've had to wait for a signing. Sometimes you expect more the longer you wait. That's human nature. But I think it will prove to be a good signing. Sounds like the kid has a good character and obviously the pace and crossing ability demonstrated in his highlights is something to get excited about. Looks like he can chip in with goals too. A big potential win here is the salary. I suspect he didn't break the bank, since Venezuelan clubs don't pay much, or at least that's my assumption. Janson or Menendez would likely cost significantly more and this guy may end up being better than both. At the very least he seems to have more pace. The is talk of another TAM signing and while I think LB may be under consideration, the team should go for another attacker in my opinion. McCleary may not be the right profile in terms of age, but he could provide depth and experience for a season or two while Schaffleburg develops. Or they can look for a hybrid no. 9 who can play on the wing. This team needs a secondary scorer. Boyd has not worked out and Hamilton can only play as a CF or in a front two. Someone like Akindele would have been perfect.

Bison44
WOW....just WOW. Underwhelmed is what Obinna called the last move, underhanded is what I'll call this one. You resign Hamilton, he comes out gets 4 goals in 600min, and you dump him for a guy 3-4 years older and can barely get a start the last 2 years. I hope Hamilton catches fire for the crew and they beat TFC for the last spot in the playoffs. Gian-Luca
I see people on twitter asking why Toronto didn't trade Boyd insted.....I think the answer is "Who the hell in their right mind would want him?" I feel bad for Jordan to get a career high in goals with limited minutes just halfway through the season for his hometown club only to be traded as a thank you. Mullins has only 1 goal in 2018 & 2019 combined, which are Boyd-like stats but I guess they are hoping he will discover his old form he had for DC United. Mikmacdo
Did anyone see telfer tonight? He torched the impact and was the best guy on the field with a beauty goal and an assist. Ivan, Dominic94, cronaldo7 and 1 other
Gian-Luca
Yes, but if they recall Telfer it will only be so that they can trade him for Quincy Amerikwa (or another mediocre US striker who has just 1 goal to his name over the past two years, but he would seemingly fit the bill). Hamilton had 5 goals in 15 games for TFC this year in all competitions, a strike rate of one goal every 3 games. Vanney was saying yesterday that someone in the strike force other than Altidore needed to step up and start scoring. I assumed that was a shot at Boyd. Naturally then the logical move is to trade the guy who scores once every 3 games and has 5 times as many goals than the other two strikers combined. Sigh. Ya, I was having this discussion with a TFC supporter pal and gave him pretty much the same answer. If he's done nothing for us and we don't want him, why would anybody else want him? Then again, we took Mullins off Cbus's hands. Let's see if he plays better than has Boyd. ... and hopefully JHams doesn't hurt us too badly in the future! Obinna
Good luck to Hamilton. Really a shame to see him leave, but great to see Bez still values him highly. Getting out of Toronto may not be the worst thing in the world for him. I think it may help his national team aspirations. Now out of the comfort of his hometown, we'll really get to see what he is made of. Sad as a TFC fan, but also kind of excited as a national team fan. Obinna
Oh I forgot to add, wtf do they see in Patrick Mullins? Unless they hope he can become what Boyd was suppose to be: a good back up to Altidore. Writing on the wall for Boyd perhaps? Blizzard

Maybe they are hoping a change in teams can get him back to his form a few years ago? I dont think he will play much. I bet they give him some time in the next couple of weeks to see if he can perform and if not they will add a striker in the transfer market. Kadenge
I am actually happy for Hamilton. He was never going to get a fair shot with Vanney. Hopefully he now has an opportunity to show what he's got. Chapman needs to move as well. There have been many times where he should have started over the past 4 weeks and did not. He will stagnate if he stays put. Mikmacdo
Would Chapman count as a domestic for American teams though? You know who would be an awesome winger DP in a year if Bradley leaves? William. Bison44
This team, Vanney and management deserve all the Sh*t they are going to get. They think Mullins is going to be better than Hamilton? He is better defensively??? Is Chad Barett not available?? Everyone crying for help up front, Poz playing uptop himself while Hamilton rots on the bench and he seems like the only bench guy to score?? This is almost worse than the bad ole days. Gian-Luca
The official release by the club also mentions that we also gave up TAM money to Columbus as part of the deal, which I hadn't seen reported before: https://www.torontofc.ca/post/2019/07/11/toronto-fc-acquires-patrick-mullins-columbus-crew-sc So a much more prolific & younger goal scorer the past two seasons, plus and international spot and TAM money and this first right of refusal on an undisclosed player (whoever that is - doubt it's Ben Spencer though) for Mullins, a guy with 1 goal in the past 2 years? I guess I will have to give them the benefit of the doubt for now until we see what Mullins does for TFC, but certainly the spotlight is going to be on him. That's giving up a lot for a guy who recently hasn't been a proven goal scorer. Edited July 11, 2019 by Gian-Luca Bison44
gator
The writing was on the wall for Hamilton several games ago when he turned the ball over in the attacking third and Vanney went nuts even though there were several mistakes that lead to the eventual goal, he got the Mo Babouli treatment after that, he barely saw the field again! Vanney and this managemt team are making it very hard for me to watch this team and yes, Chapman needs to get the hell out of there as he has the wrong passport for TFC's liking! to70
Let's be realistic a bit. If its about the passport then why the heck are Fraser.,Laryea and Shaffelburg playing time over Chapman and Hamilton. Even though he has scored Hamilton has been frustrating to watch whenever he started a game. His attitude just seemed little lackadaisical for someone trying to prove that he belongs. Hope that a change of scenery helps him and he does well in Columbus. Blizzard, Ruffian, Free kick and 2 others
