17 year old Toronto born midfielder with Panathinaikos U19 in Greece. As brought to light by Canucks Abroad today, he signed a professional contract in October of last year. He has 5 goals in 11 games for the U19's so far.

Interesting factoid about Panathinaikos: Legend has it that their shamrock emblem was inspired by the uniform that Canadian marathoner Billy Sherring was wearing when he won gold at the 1906 Intercalated Games in Athens.

If anyone saw the Inside the Game interview with Mauro Biello yesterday he mentioned that a lad from Panathinaikos was on his u20 team radar. Gotta be this guy... Good to see he is being tracked by the CSA.

He also mentioned we have U-20 players at Wolverhampton and Sheffield United and said these players are "in-and-around" the first team, which is very encouraging.

Yeah after looking at the Canucks abroad list that would be Corbeanu at Wolves and Jebbison at Sheffield. Thank God for that list haha.

There was another team Biello mentioned but I couldn't hear it properly.

What is Jebbison's connection to Canada?  All sites that I found using the google machine list him as English.  By the way, he has done quite well there as well.

He played with ANB academy from the age of 6 until he signed with Sheffield United last year. And if I recall correctly, his brother Micah was once called up to the under-15 national team.

The other team he mentioned was Sandhausen of the 2. Bundesliga. Roen Fordyce Hlywka a right winger plays for Sandhausen u19 where he was the top scorer in the league this season.

Playing in Greece may not be ideal but if he is thriving over there for Panathinaikos U19, then more power to him. If he can do that, he should have no problem making their senior squad soon like in the next couple or next few years.

Iliadis did make the bench once for the Panathinaikos first team in a Greek Cup match in December 2018. He didn't feature and hasn't been in a first team matchday squad since, but that does indicate that he is involved in the first team setup. He will age out of the U19 team soon, so hopefully he will be able to make the step up to senior team football.

But as far as his international allegiance playing for either Greece or Canada, I would like to see him choose Canada but being realistic, he might just choose Greece especially because he is Greek, even though he was born in Canada.

Yeah he would have the opportunity to play in a World Cup in 2026 for Canada, but Greece would afford him that same opportunity as well too because Greece have been at more World Cups than Canada has. That's just a fact. But yeah they may have missed out on Russia but Greece is still a team with pedigree.
