Wear your Voyageurs, Canada or CPL gear, congregate together and cheer on the CPL team? It seems unlikely but a strong showing might move the needle a tiny bit. I'm on board. Although I was already planning to buy a Valour or HFX kit and show up wearing that, just waiting to see who will be there. BuzzAndSting

mianjo
Very emphatic win by the Fury last night 3-0 against Bethlehem moves the Fury into 6th spot with one or two games in hand with 4 of the 5 teams above them. Ivan
mianjo
Fury moved into 4th place yesterday with a strong win 4-1 over Charlotte Independence even after missing 2 penalties this was a very good win, scoring for the Fury were Samb with 2 and Fal and Christian with one a piece. Fall and Samb missed the penalties. Fury also have a one or 2 games in hand on the 2 teams above. Fury's record is now P 11 W 6 D 3 L 2 F 17 A 9 GD +8 Pts

JamboAl
I think the biggest difference this season is that the non-Canadian players brought in have been a significant upgrade from previous seasons (Fall, Samb, Ward and Francois). Plus Gagnon-Lapare and Mannella have been very reliable in midfield.

mianjo
The forcast for sunday was a 60% chance of rain with possible thunderstorms, i had to go as i'm a volunteer with the Fury so i was prepared with pocho rain jacket etc, and it was raining right up to the time i arrived at the stadium, by game time there was blue sky and by half time it was a very pleasant day and quite warm, i was told this was a window in the weather with rain coming again around 4pm with thunder storms although there was no mention of tornadoes. I was told the crowd was actually higher than what was expected, so hopefully they enjoyed the game and will come back.

The tornadoes were later, around 6pm, and out in the East, but it's close enough in time and location to have reminded me that the weather wasn't great. When you say you were told the attendance was higher than expected, do you mean specifically because of the weather?
Bison44
Is Manella getting any better? I caught some of the game today on youtube. After all the CPL talk about guys that might get called up to CMNT, I thought I better catch some Fury action. Irving looks solid, is there any chance Haworth can challenge for a RB spot? Is TMG far off a CB call (or a impact recall), if we are calling young guys with limited MLS experience? yothat2
Red and White
Haworth has always been solid and reliable for Fury, whether as attacker or fullback. I'm not sure how he'd look with the CanMNT though, its something that friendlies would be useful for. yothat2, BuzzAndSting, Bison44 and 2 others
yothat2
Nice to see Thiago score two goals today! Didn't really rate him with the nasl.. He seems to like canada and stayed here after
Bison44
Fury live on youtube right now. Chance to check out Brian Wright and Laurent with Birmingham, plus see if Haworth really deserves a call at RB.
Sébastien
Considering how weak the CMNT is at right back, I think Haworth would warrant a look. My only concern is how he would fare defensively against better opposition, as I would not expect him to have anywhere near the same offensive importance as he does with the Fury. Probably should have been called up for the pre-Gold Cup camp, but not sure he would have cracked the lineup. yothat2
Bison44
With Didic getting a call for the nationals...how has TMG looked this season?? I havnt seen many Ottawa games this season (sorry CPL now..shrug) but I always liked him. ALso Irving seems to be a forgotten man, he is only 26, full time starter in USL...he ought to be up there with some of the CPL keepers climbing the depth chart eh? Congrats on the big win last night.

I've asked @JamboAl a few times about this, maybe he can provide insight here. Bison44 and JamboAl 1

Congrats on the big win last night. TMG has looked all right but I would not say spectacular by any means. I don’t think he would merit a CNMT call ahead of Didic. As for Irving, that is the most disappointing part. He has been the number one since about the 2nd or 3rd game of the season taking over from Monsalve. But he has been prone to horrible brain fades and errors in judgment when coming out for balls. Maybe we just got used to Crepeau and are now spoiled. The only player who would come close to a call up, IMO, would be Carl Haworth, who was a striker but now plays right back and pops up basically everywhere on the pitch. He is also a dead ball specialist as can be seen by the number of goals direct from free kicks. deschamp86
I personally don't think any players from USL should be getting call ups. Not based on play, but the only players I would like to see getting a call at that level of play is CPL, in hopes that any ambitious players would move over to CPL. It is so much easier to scout players playing regularly in the same league, than trying to gauge a few USL players playing against a bunch of random Americans BuzzAndSting

As for Haworth, his age (30) is prob why he hasnt had a chance to win that RB spot. They never gave Eddie Edwards a shot either when he was doing well later in his career. I always liked Irving and if you listen to some people even Borjan makes too many bone head plays. But he is 26 now and in his 3rd? season of USL...he should be cleaning up that kind of mistake. Just watching the Fury game at Swope Park Rangers and Irving just had another brain fade to give up an equalizer. Not good! EDIT: Fury just scored a winner to clinch a playoff spot.
