section114row20
Drafted 4th overall by FC Dallas in the Superdraft. https://www.bigdsoccer.com/2019/1/11/18178229/fc-dallas-selects-callum-montgomery-mls-draft-2018 johnyb
shamrock
Let's hope he develops at least good enough to be a starter in MLS, which basically means he can walk into the Mens' Camp. I've been disappointed before but there's alway a couple of surprises throughout the season. BCM
lazlo_80
The fact they traded up and he’s in a place that doesn’t like to break the bank is all great signs. They’ve also done it before with guys like Matt hedges. Bison44 and johnyb

FC_Hali
Not a bad landing spot. Looks like he'll be 4th choice behind Hedges, Ziegler and their new Brazilian (Bressan). He'll likely get heavy USL minutes with FCD's new reserve team. If he can develop into anything close to Hedges it will be a home run for the national team. Mikmacdo
If hes buried 4th or 5th on the depth chart they should loan him to Pacific FC instead of playing in the lower USL league.

If he's loaned to their USL, they can bring him back if there's injuries. And USL is probably a higher league than the CPL this year.

PopePouri
Based on previous drafts, most CB in the top 10 seem to get a lot of game time first season. We can only hope. nolando and johnyb

Keegan
Watched him today play for Dallas against NYRB. He came on for Hedges early in the second half with the score at 1-1. Never put a foot wrong and surprisingly confident on the ball - didn't always play the simple pass but I didn't see him misplace one. The 2nd goal came from his defensive work where he anticipated and intercepted an attack by NY and then played a great long pass on his weak foot into space to start the counter. dyslexic nam, Grandbloke, johnyb and 7 others 8

lazlo_80
This guy has a very clear path to becoming a mainstay in the national team set up. Dallas has done well with young defenders in the past and he’s built like an MLS CB. johnyb and Grandbloke
Chad_Impact
Any CB starting regularly in MLS is a great addition to our program at this point BCM and johnyb
dyslexic nam
I sometimes skip these threads for a while because a lot of them are guys that I will never see play. Sounds like CM might be a different story. Glad I opened it - will have to keep an eye out for him in any Dallas games. And I would echo others above - a starter at CB in the MLS would absolutely be in the mix for our 18 - if not 11. Hopefully he can keep progressing and get some solid minutes - and then get to a point where he is starting. Bison44
Has been playing with USL-1 North Texas but has been up with the big club but hasnt made it into a game yet. On the bench today for Dallas, maybe he gets a shot over the Gold cup window. jordan and johnyb
ktf
At least he is getting decent minutes, about 450 so far, even if it is USL-1(which I would place below CPL in caliber). After years of so many Unattached FC, I am always happy to see a guy get playing time. Also if he is going up and down it really is a clear developmental plan. shamrock
Surely the highest rated upcoming D prospect around. He was picked way before Miller, but I guess the situations differ in Orlando and Dallas. If he doesn't get first-team minutes next season he should be looking for a trade (of course it would be preferable to break through at Dallas though).
