VinceA
At some point we need to begin to discuss how Scott Parker is probably not helping Buchanan's development as a player. Except for a few minutes at the beginning of the game, I thought he was pretty invisible. In the second half, he would try to take on his man, but was not successful. Obinna
Should the buy clause for McKennie to Leeds get triggered, the fee will be 35M if I recall correct, so 30M for Buchanan is not that unreasonable by comparison. In reality though, yeah, the money that gets thrown around in EPL is stupid. It seems like clubs are getting scared away by a 40-50M price tag there. It also seems like a few of the clubs who have been "rumored" to be in the mix for David (IE EPL teams who need a striker) seem to have shifted their interest towards Vlahovic. If we can see David + Tajon go for a combined 90M, that would be insane. Jack1997 and Obinna

Seems like teams in the EPL are willing to throw around 25, 30, 35 million like it's nothing, but there also seems to be a psychological wall when it comes to paying 45, 50, 55 etc. Yes, you see those fees of course, but there is a big drop off once you get to that echelon (or at least that's how it seems to me). Yeah there seems to be a wide gap between like 25M or so and 80M or so, and few transfers between there. It's like, if you purchase David, then you won't be able to purchase Bellingham or Mudryk or Enzo Fernandez or whoever the next big transfer target is. Mbappe is also flirting with a potential departure from PSG, and will continue to do so every year he is still active, and if that's the case, then a lot of teams are going to have to clear 150M+ in transfer fees to be able to throw a godfather offer over to PSG. Free kick
When I saw the R16 draw for Brugge, I thought that they had drawn the best possible opponent that they could have gotten.  I didn't given them a chance against anybody else in that pot.  Having just watch the 15 minutes highlights package of this game (that they played at home no less), I don't think I saw more than 3 scoring chances from Brugge in the whole 15 minute clip.  Edited February 17, 2023 by Free kick

He did get to play in the knockout round as well, advancing ahead of Atletico and Leverkusen. And hey, they probably won't get past Benfica, but 2 goals could be made up in the away leg. There's still everything to play for and a chance to get into the Quarter finals. Again, they probably won't make it, but that's some great experience for one of our players. Better than what I thought he would experience in his first full European season, and better than what he would have gotten with Lens or Augsburg. Domestically it's been frustrating for sure, but I still think Brugge was the right call, and I still think the season was a good one for him, despite the ups and downs. They just need to stay ahead of Gent and finish 4th, qualifying for Play-off 1. Should they drop to Play-off 2, the best they can do is qualify for Europa Conference League playoffs. 6 games left until the split. Should they stay ahead of Gent, they could go on a run in Play-off 1. They won't catch Genk, but they could catch Antwerp or Union SG. If they claw out a narrow second place finish, they get to the UCL final qualifying round - not bad for a club that had to contend with UCL..... And final thing, next year it will be interesting to see if Genk can even come close to what Brugge did in this year's group stage, all while trying to defend their title. I bet they don't do it. I am no Brugge fan, but I say all of that to suggest it's not easy to dominate Belgian football while managing Europe. Perhaps then we should view Brugge with a bit of leniency? There is no PSG or Bayern in Belgium. Edited March 3, 2023 by Obinna johnyb

Not sure I agree about stalling his development though. He has played nearly 2000 minutes in all competitions. Including knockout Champions league. I'm sure Scott Parker is partially to blame but I don't see him having success at a better team as a winger. Looking at his minutes per goal contributions throughout the years: This year: 454 (1g, 2a in 1361 minutes), or 449 if you include his CL assist Last year including playoffs: 587 (1g, 1a in 1174 minutes) Last season with the Revs: 134 (9g, 5a in 1869) The change in level of the leagues isn't much different, and he went to a better team. Edited March 4, 2023 by sebdeserio Obinna and king1010
