Tajon Buchanan

Also, the fact that Brugge regularly features in Europe (Europa and/or Champions League) had to be a selling point.  Mid-table big-league teams are very much hit and miss in that regard.  And if you play well in the European competitions, you can pretty much guarantee yourself a big payday...

Exactly.

Furthermore, Busio and Pepi are so young they can be afforded time to find their feet, but Tajon can't.

Buchanan's 23rd birthday is right around the corner. He needs to hit the ground running. That's a lot easier to do at a Belgian heavyweight than a Bundesliga middleweight, or a Serie A lightweight.

I am convinced Brugge was the smart move for him, but time will tell.

Pepi is equally proven, but is 4 years younger than Buchanan, hence the (significantly) bigger fee and top 5 league move

Completely agree with your whole post. Also just want to add top 5 *for now*, they are 1 pt out of relegation. Can't wait to see all those annoying CanMNT twitter accounts going at the americans for Scott Kennedy and Caniggia Elva being the better than Pepi

what about Pepi then?

Edit:

Or Gianluca Busio?

Or Tanner Tesseman?

Or Miguel Almiron?

Pepi, Busio, and Tesseman went to teams with American owners.

Besides that, all 4 of those players are relegation bound. People fall in love with the league status and overlook the team to much. Ya Brugge plays in a weaker league, but they are better than some of this garbage. Better there than to get relegated. They can say hi to Sargent on their way to the second division.

There was a story a few pages back about racism and Club Brugge.  Here are a few more stories that suggest dark clouds upcoming in soccer in Belgium.

Mannaert to keep Belgian Pro League role despite being named in ‘Clean Hands’ probe - Inside World Football

quote: "However, the Club Brugge strongman has been named by the federal prosecutor in the largest investigation into match-fixing and corruption in the history of Belgian football. He is charged with forgery and the indictment chamber will decide if Mannaert will have to go to court. Club Brugge president Bart Verhaeghe is also among the dozens of top officials that the federal prosecutor wants in court."

And

Footgate : Dirigeants, arbitres, entraîneurs, ... Le parquet veut poursuivre 57 personnes en justice - DH Les Sports+ (dhnet.be)

PS.:  Also named in the probe is Olivier Renard, The current Sporting director for the Montreal impact.  There are 57 names expected to be charged including Player agents, referees, Coaches, club officials from many clubs in Belgium.

Thing is, I think they'll be upset as they fell 2 more points off the leaders, who won, beating Ike's Genk.

It's good for Tajon to be in a title race.

Just another thing: I think this coach is giving him some new tactical variations, he's an attacking mid turning inside, or an outside player, he's called to be disciplined tracking back. All good.

Love how the scorer (don't know him) turns, points and hugs Tajon giving him credit for the great pass/move.

Bas Dost was the scorer. As a general rule, feeding him in the box is a really good way to rack up assists. Dude is clinical from 6 yards out.

Bas Dost – the minimalist misfit of Dutch Football

Quote

Most wouldn’t expect the greatest (statistically speaking) striker from the low country to be a hangman: there to do one job and one job only. Bas Dost is not complex. A hangman takes what is given to him by society – criminals, killers – and hangs them. Nothing less, nothing more. Dost takes what his team gives him, whether it be through complex passing or route-one football, and scores. He doesn’t fuss about. He gets the ball in the box and he scores the damn football.

Bas Dost is a big veteran dutch striker. He's played and scored plenty of goals for teams like Sporting, Wolfsburg and Frankfurt, so he's been around the block. Has played for the Dutch 18 times, but not since 2018 and has only scored once, surprisingly. Anyways, should really help Buchanan rack up the assists at Club Brugge. He's very clinical.

1 goal every 136 minutes for his entire professional career of 498 games (1 goal contribution every 112 mintues). Pretty insane numbers spanning over a career that long.

Apparently Bruges are bringing in Skov Olsen from Bologna. He’s a 22 year old pure winger. I wonder if this means that Tajon will be playing in that wingback role for Bruges with Lange and Olsen as the wingers

Lang played as a wingback last game by the looks of it.
