I don't feel badly about any of the 2019 options declined. Of those out of contract, I think Techera is still young, and fits in, and Kamara has leadership and gives us goals.

As commented, if our out of contracts do not come back, we need another keeper, another centre back, another DM, two wing attackers and a 10-goal a year target striker.

Sean Melvin - yep

Doneil Henry - uhuh

Brett Levis - uhuh

Nicolas Mezquida - yep

David Norman Jr. - uhuh

Yordy Reyna - uhuh

Erik Hurtado - HUH?

I swear they must renegotiate hurtados deal and pay him less money each year. Thought he was out for sure this year.

Happy with the roster moves. If we can dump Blondell and Juarez even better. Exciting times if we can invest properly. Even if we don't it will be exciting until March lol.

I don't understand the Hurtado hate. He is a serviceable, not expensive, domestic squad player that works hard and doesn't complain. If you have to turn to him when desperate, he can sometimes do the job for you. Of course he is limited. But what more do you expect from the 20th player on your roster?

I think considering how old Hurtado is now ( not to mention how painful it is to watch him attempt to play football) most fans think the 20th roster spotshould go to a young Canadian from the Academy. Even those who kinda had a soft spot for him over time mostly feel that way at this point

But based on your criteria with an expansion team coming some think he was kept as a piece to move. Koch knows him very well im sure

I just think Hurtados time came and went and he simply hasn't improved. He has pace but is still inconsistent in front of goal and in his decision making.

He does bring experience at this point but I think we should be aiming higher. I'd like us to bring in two quality strikers, dumping hurtado/blondell, retaining Kamara and blooding in Colyn and Bair.

He isn't and shouldn't be 1st 2nd or 3rd choice for where we want to be and at 4th or 5th choice he is just getting in Colyn and Bair's way.

All that said we can't just can and replace everyone this window.

the fact that the caps let zanatta go and kept Hurtado is all you have to say about the footballing decisions at the caps, one is a footballer the other not

Your version of the story suggests that Zanatta was desperate to stay, but the 'Caps shoved him out the door. I think we both know that your version is pretty much BS, though.

I don't see it that way. On a 28-30 man roster, you have enough space for both a squad player like Hurtado and promising youth like Bair. If our young Canadians are as good as we want them to be, then they should be able to surpass a limited player like Hurtado. If they don`t, that says more about the quality of our youth, not the quality of Hurtado.

If you believe 750.00 per month is a contract that a player should sign to stay ?? that is below min wage

Waston and Kamara gone. When you include the Davies trade, I'd say that in the last three months Caps have lost the three best players that have ever donned the jersey. (I'm not going to include that little Brazilian in the list out of spite).  Dos Santos really has his work cut out for him now. Hopefully he has a grand vision in mind.

Maybe I am undervaluing the worth of TAM and GAM in a salary cap league but it seems like a low return for a good starting CB.Possibly his relatively high salary of 600k made him harder to move and with the TAM and GAM gives the Caps an extra 1 350 000 to work with next season.

He wanted to leave so that probably  affects their bargaining power. Plus unless I am mistaken he was part of the group of guys that people speculated there were locker room problems with, so that could have affected what they got as well

From what I can tell, MDS has taken care of the workaday foundation of the team and will now go abroad to sign the higher quality talent the team needs.  What is exciting to see is that he has a very clear idea of the sort of player he is looking for, both in terms of technical ability and temperament. Time will tell, but I get the feeling the Caps will have a very clear identity under MDS, something that was not always the case under Robbo. (Yeah, for a period of time we were a countering side, but it was often naïve and too one-dimensional.)

Excited to see who MDS signs. We need some top talent, and we have the cash to do so.  From things he has said, I expect MDS to bring in a number of players from south east Asia. Should be an interesting off season. I like what I am seeing so far.
