civory Posted July 3, 2018 Share Posted July 3, 2018 Andres Iniesta has declared that he is retiring from international football following La Roja’s 2018 World Cup exit at the hands of Russia. The Spain midfielder came on as a substitute as Fernando Hierro’s charges lost 4-3 on penalties to the hosts in the last 16 on Sunday. The 34-year-old played 131 times for Spain, netting 13 times including the winning goal in the 2010 World Cup. “This was my last game for Spain,” Iniesta told reporters after the last-16 defeat to Russia. “A marvelous spell is over. Sometimes the end is not as you dreamed it.” The Barcelona legend also lifted European Championship titles in 2008 and 2012.
