Personally I want to see the strongest Canadian U20 team possible. We haven't qualified for the U20 World Cup in far too long.

Davies, Millar, Tabla, David, etc... We'll make the US and Mexico want to avoid us. Canada isn't f#%king around this time!  (I hope)

Yeah especially with 2022 and 2026 coming around, having our boys go to a U-20 World Cup would be great preparation. The youth of today will be our core for tomorrow, so they need all of the big game international experience that they can get.

Its a crazy format as even though there are a number of spots up for grabs for the Concacaf, any side that is in Pot 1 through 5 that is drawn into a group with Mexico or the US has a very slim chance of qualifying.  I am all for more matches for the minnows but not at the expense of sides being left out of the world U20 cup to achieve that.

Yesterday ended the UNCAF tournament used by the Central American national teams to warm up engines for the CONCACAF qualifiers. Guatemala was champion without losing any match. Panama was second and Costa Rica third. Honduras disappointed losing 3 games, while the rest were at a lower level.

Admittedly, Honduras did not use its titular team, with which they won the bronze medal in the Central American and Caribbean Games Barranquilla 2018.

At least Canada will not be in the same group with Guatemala for being in the same pot. The group from El Salvador or Costa Rica would be advantageous.

My question is how does this tournament work for NCAA guys?  They just miss the most crucial part of their season and a month of classes..

One would think they should have done this in early December.

We really need all 5 guys that were on the senior team to play in this tournament. David looks incredible and with Davies and Millar on the wings our attack would be deadly. Busti, Cornelius, Legault, Bair, Okello, Verhoeven, Choiniere, Sadiki would be the start of a solid squad.

Cornelius is a '97 and Sadiki is a '98.

I think you have be a born on January 1st 1999 to be eligible

I’m happy the CSA decided to participate in Toulon so that we can bring a lot of the same players over for this one

Early December would be worse from an academic perspective, right before finals!

I was talking about returning players from the summer tournament

These two weren’t there

Although I’d would add Hasal to be Busti’s back up, he’s a solid choice. Haven’t heard of the other player

Read what you wrote above carefully. Now read what jith posted. (hint: look at their birthdates). Now kick your own ass.

Gotcha Gotcha, but look what I meant to say is that players born on or after 1 January 1999 are eligible to compete. I was talking about the eligibility not the exact birthdates

Misunderstanding on both part and there’s no need for that

I knew what you meant, just pointing out you missed the joke.

I wasn't being serious, joking again.

LOL I can't believe I just read all of that. Who are we hoping to be drawn with? I'm assuming El Salvador, Honduras or Panama do any of them have young good talents coming up? I think I recall Honduras has some young promising guys.

The draw takes place on Thursday morning

considering the top place team of each group makes it to the knockout round

If we can avoid US and Mexico I don’t see why not we can finish 3rd or 4th in this tournament and be in Poland next summer competing in the U20 World Cup

Come on @Jith12, Thomas is right and you totally misconstrued his statement.

He didn't say they had to be soccer players.
