The most important question is: Is he a dual national ? Potentially the next Davies.

Not that I know of. Don't pay much attention to the teams below u17, so he's fairly new to me. He started the year with the u17s, went down to the u15s for 5-6 games, and has been back with the u17s since November. Hasn't stood out in a good or bad way with the u17s....which is great for a 15 year old given the talent already on that team.

IIRC his older brother was a very good player in the academy as well, but left to pursue another sport.

Bustos is a poor fit for MLS. Like the kid a lot, but he's far too slow.

Vasquez has done great in MLS with no speed. Bustos just needs to develop and learn to use the skills he has to become successful in any better league than the Ascenso.

I disagree that Vasquez has no speed. He is significantly more athletic than Bustos.

OK, lets get really scientific here.

FIFA the video games has Bustos at 63 Pace while Vasquez at 50 Pace. Not that this absolutely proves anything, but at least some people agree with me that Vasquez has very little pace.

Impossible to say for sure since I don’t think we have seen Vazquez run yet... wait, have we?! Yeah, Bustos is faster.

Bustos speed never helped him, but the real issue is he can be dispossessed by a strong breeze and doesn't do anything as well as Vazquez passes. The Caps aren't blameless with Bustos, there might be another dimension where he was handed the 10, given half a season to develop into a creator, and grew into a Lee Nguyen type player....but the Caps were never going to hand Bustos the keys, and Bustos looked like a deer in headlights when he did have opportunities to lock down a role with the first team.

Yes, totally agree, but Bustos never had a hope in hell on a counter-attacking team that rarely out-possesses opponents. (And Nguyen has much more pace than Bustos.)

"Colyn has agreed to a multi-year contact with options through 2022."

Read: "16 year old Colyn has agreed to a two year contract with two one-year unilateral club-option clauses."

MLS once again trying to take advantage of young players. Did Cyle Larin teach them nothing? Apparently they are very slow learners.

Geesh, dont give Robinson any ideas, its already an epidemic.  Vanney keeps putting Telfer at LB for TFC.  If they want to help out, convert someone to RB at least.

Got a chance to watch his sub performance in the semi's. It went to extra time and the Whitecaps U19 were down a man for some of it so Colyn (pronounced Co-line) didn't get too much time on the ball. You can tell he has a pro mindset at 16. Though against 18-19 year olds he does look a bit over matched physically. He's holding his own up an age group though and that's great!

I watched the same game and came to the same conclusion. Very raw but looks like he has some promise as an attacking mid who can make an attacking play while on the move.
