Would it be overly hyperbolic to suggest that tomorrow might be the single, biggest club match that one of our players has faced since the '20 Champions League final? Put in a top performance against PSG and JD can start writing his own ticket for the January window.

It wouldn’t be completely over the top.  The fact that he was the lone scorer against PSG the last time around was pretty huge and had a direct connection to them winning the title.  Repeating that sort of performance would be pretty significant and turn even more heads.

Probably hyperbolic, but only a little bit. Last season had some massive games in the context of Lille's title run so I wouldn't say this is the biggest. But in personal terms, this is a massive game for David because his current form will certainly have all interested eyes on him. I still don't think he'll move in January, but a big performance today could definitely go a long way to punching his eventual ticket.

If you pay a bit of attention to the wider shots of Lille's build up through the first 30 minutes, JD can be seen directing his teammates where to play the ball like he's conducting the orchestra. He's not passively letting Bamba, Ikone, or even Sanches run into blind alleys or choose the wrong pass again and again like he did last season. He's demanding better, as is his right as the elite player within that attack.
