Obinna
Great read, but caught myself thinking "Klinsman is full of it". He is not wrong that playing better teams will improve the US, but I think he is making a mountain out of a molehill. 1. Mexico did not lose to Argentina 4-0 because of nations league. They haven't even played in nations league yet. 2. The USA and Mexico have been playing friendlies against top nations for years and years and years, but Mexico still can't reach the WC quarters. USA still can't advance from the group stage regularly. 3. Friendlies are not competitive in general. Yes, playing better teams makes you better, but so does playing competitive games. Even if the competition is weaker, there is benefit in winning games that matter. Most of the voices from the USA about nations league are negative. I understand it, but if they treat it as glorified friendlies, that is to their detriment. Luckily, Canada on the other hand will take it seriously and we will benefit from it, win lose or draw. Club Linesman
Concacaf’s job is not to make the US and Mexico better, it’s to make all the teams in the region better.  Klinsman is full of s***.  We just watched tiny Caribbean nations beat Central American teams and this is what will improve the entire region.  And then in the end the Us and Mexico will be playing top 50 teams regularly which will benefit all. And the complete lack of respect towards nations like Honduras and Jamaica and Canada who can field solid teams is gonna come back and bite them in the ass. I can’t wait until we beat them next week. Later that night, Trinidad C team thrashed their Russia 2018 tickets. That team plays way too much at home...Gold Cup, Copa America, nearly all the friendlies When they HAVE to play on the road, they are as mediocre as we used to be. Last WCQ, they've only won ONCE in the road. Even at our most mediocre, they couldn't beat us at BMO. Playing too much at home? You think? dyslexic nam
Must have been the Nations League that made them miss the World Cup... Klinsmann isn't in Germany any more and the US is not a soccer super power. They can arrange friendlies with top teams - and have the luxury of being able to get them because making money on them isn't an issue. Plus they have 5 hex-level peers in CONCACAF that offer them absolutely decent competition. And if they want to play against top teams, make the goddamned world cup. CONCACAF is fulfilling its mandate to grow the game in the region. Klinsmann can piss off. Obinna, Ivanovski94, Kent and 1 other

apbsmith
Really nice and impressed to see Tesho land on his feet in Orlando this season. Top Canadian goal scorer in MLS this year and tied in individual total points with Kaye (goals & assits). Orlando was awful in MLS last year, dead last in the East.  Teso, Miller & WJ all played a part in at least helping them be competitive this year.  Edited October 11, 2019 by apbsmith 2nd last in East this year johnyb

Kent
Leicester beat Southampton 0-9 today! What does this have to do with the CMNT? It means that Craig Forrest is no longer the sole holder of the record for largest loss in Premier League history. His Ipswich lost 9-0 to Manchester United in 1995. Welcome to the club Angus Gunn. MM3/MM2/MM
The waiver draft will take place on Monday at 3PM, Canadians available are: Jason Beaulieu, Daniel Kinumbe, Thomas Meilleur-Giguere, Greg Ranjitsingh, Aidan Daniels, Sean Melvin. If not selected they will become free agents within MLS, they are already free agents outside of MLS. Once the waiver draft is over, teams can start signing free agents, Will Johnson and Ashtone Morgan are the Canadians eligible for free agency. On Tuesday the re-entry draft will be held, eligible are Hamilton, Jakovic, Jackson-Hamel, Wright, Levis. Players not selected have their MLS rights retained by their current club. JuicyHam
Man MLS rules suck. American sports league rules are almost all ridiculous and needlessly complicated but they mostly make sense because the best players in those sports want to play in those leagues and that's why these silly rules just don't make sense in the MLS gator

More teams +  Better players + better product = more fans /more money. I understand the need for a salary cap my question is the CPL trying to be tier 1 league or a small development league ? Why can’t we be Bold ?

Ansem
I agree. Isn't starting the CPL meant to give Pros a place to play? Keeping MLS guys unattached or forced to play for lower leagues when they have one at home kind of defeats the purpose. Now, CPL teams will wait for the transfer window and see what happen with whoever's left. Those guys can't expect to be earning as much as they did in MLS. Market Value is a thing and when the entire MLS says "no thank you", cant turnaround and ask over 100k in CPL either.
Bison44
Johnson was making just under half a million US so I think he wont be coming to CPL any time soon. The other guys mentioned by SpecialK are more in our price range if they cant stick with MLS.
SpecialK
my issue is that you can’t say your a tier 1 league when USL is bigger and has more valued players in it. Yes you gonna start somewhere. But you can’t say your a Tier 1 league when your being cheap and saying your developing young talent ( the Ottawa senator model hahaha JK) . I worry this is going to be the case. There is a opportunity with some pretty good Canadian talent that basically free agents to really boost the CPL to the world. Also new teams are needed ASAP ! I pray the CPL isn’t stupid like the CFL is ! ( there are plenty of Cities in Canada that can have teams!)
