Let’s put it this way no relevant men’s program in the world Would have hired Herdman if he just came from the women’s team like he did with Canada. He saw his only opportunity.

I can’t prove anything but during that time frame it really sounded like it was Game of Thrones at the CSA. Herdman had his supporters and minor success. He saw that the men’s team turned the page had some real talent, put a gun the head of the board who are bunch of old university profs. Also I really think Jason De Vos played a huge role because once Herdman got hired he was added to the coaching staff and basically Herdman took his old job.

I do think Oz wanted to spend money and do something huge and the CSA wasn’t haven’t it. Right away he said we play the big boys and really that never happen, they played scotland and that’s it. Same with Herdman the CSA doesn’t want to spend the money for bigger games or hosting anything. I’m happy they went to that French youth tournament a few years old. The CSA are small minded people.

What do we know for sure?

1. CSA gave Floro big money which made Herdman's salary at the time look like peanuts.

2. Montagliani hires OZ, publicly states Herdman isn't right for the CanMNT job.

3. Montagliani leaves CSA.

4. OZ's team performs well on the pitch.

5. Herdman begins talking with other programs, England women and a "North American men's club team".

*OZ sacked and replaced by JH*

6. Herdman is now coaching men which is a transition he is on record stating he always wanted to make. (Now making 7 figures if the rumours are true).

7. There were zero rumours of impropriety against OZ while he was with the CSA, they only began after he was fired.

Apologies for being vague, but I have heard specific stories about OZ's time as manager with the CANMNT that paint him as being pretty unprofessional. Not financial stuff like mentioned in the Union piece, but more in line with the stuff posted in the Sun piece by Larson. Whatever one may think of the subsequent Herdman hiring, I think we dodged a bullet with OZ.

Where can I find these ?

What does it mean that the CSA never followed up? Isn't that his responsibility as the coach? Who else is supposed to do it?

So finally I paid and read the whole thing. Sounds like CSA officials didn’t follow up with Cristante to file the paperwork for him to switch over. Because he would have to do his One time switch.

Wow Oz really throws Reed under the bus has a huge Herdman lover. Well basically the whole CSA. He wanted to fire Gale and all the coaches and change the whole youth program. He was shocked about no games before gold cup , that scrimmage before was a scramble. Before he got there players didn’t care about winning. He wanted more “ young immigrant players”.  CSA is all about paid to pay. He didn’t want to do it there way. 30 mins after firing they hire Herdman. Summary hahah . Sign up for the articles, it’s amazing reads.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again....Octavio Zambrano should probably seek some professional help getting over something that happened more than 3 years ago. He comes across as an incredibly bitter individual, with some amount of delusions of grandeur about him. It's almost like he's the exact guy in El Hombre's amusing anecdote.

If I'm the coach and I get a verbal commitment from a player I make sure whoever is supposed to send over the paper work is on it right away. If the documents haven't been sent out in two days I'd be questioning them as to the reason. If they still don't have them out in four days I'm talking to their supervisor.

If the story is true then Zambrano failed to take charge. This is his version of the story and he comes off as weak and inept.

Bingo! But he had time to fly around and watch club matches IIRC. He only had 7 matches in charge ... lots of free time. Same with anyone who manages Canada. There is so much down time.

I'd expect nothing less from professional players, even if each camp was a total shit show behind the scenes.

^^^ THIS.  If Zambranos story is suspect, then the players saying things are great with the current coach (who controls the program and calls the players in) is even more suspect.  Nothing was said about Zambrano until he was fired.  Which doesnt mean it wasnt a shit show.

So all Zambrano has in the article is he "thinks" he had Crisante convinced but the paperwork didnt get done, and a bunch at CSA were fans of Herdman??  And the CSA wasnt going to totally revamp their system?? Well there is a shocker.  Thats it?  Hmmm, still would like to know all the shennanigans Zambrano was supposedly up to, that warrant the pundits saying his tenure was a disaster.

If his behaviour in the the 3+ years since he left the CSA is any indication, we're well rid of him, to be fair.

Maybe so, it seems there are some serious questions about what went on during his tenure, that doesn't justify the Herdman hiring or the process or lack thereof in facilitating it for me, I support him as a Voyageur but I am still far from convinced this was a good hire!

I want to know more about Cristante. The rest we all know about and Herdman is the golden boy of CSA. It’s actually really sick how much control and herdman ass kissers they have there. Was the CSA that incompetent or sabotage or is OZ lying ? If they got Cristante at that time that would really change view of the program even more and now ! Omg God I pray FIFA changes the rules again hahaha.

I’m not gonna debate with you because there is so much Proof that he was close to signing on. His brother came out and said so. Cristante has been to Canada more times than some players we have right now haha. His twitter account even has a Canada flag on it. His a proud of being part Canadian.

With Hoilett out of contract at the end of this season, does he answer the call for the June WCQ games? Would be risky on his part given his age. Has Herdman moved to a 4-2-3-1? It appears he deployed a double pivot in the 2 March games but hard to say given the quality of the opposition. He has stated that both Larin and David are best playing either wide or behind the striker respectively. Could we see Larin out wide and David playing behind Cavallini with Davies as the other wide player? Eustaquio and Atiba as the double pivots. We know Davies will help defensively while  David has a great engine and has contibuted defensively for Lille. This obviously leaves a lot of quality mids on the bench ...Arfield, Oso, Kaye and Piette. But even with a 4-3-3 we only get one of those mids on the field. A lot will depend on how Cavallini's season progresses. If he is hot, that's an incredible front 4.

This is WCQ and he has significant competition at his position these days. Skipping those matches would be suicide for his international career.

Not sure if there's a record of the season with the highest number of Canadian goals+assists but I think this season is going to beat it by far.
