CPL General

Recommended Posts

I think I've mentioned my love for SportsClubStats before. I've started two pages on there for the upcoming CPL Spring Season:

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/Canada/CanPL.html

^ This is for the regular spring season, and contains all games until the break

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/Canada/CanPLCLQual.html

^ This is for CONCACAF League qualification, and just tracks games between Forge, Valour, and FC Ed.

They interviewed Stephen Hart before they flew to Victoria last night, did not want to say who the 16-18 man traveling squad was, hinted that there were some injuries from experienced players that suffered in the DR and that they're will be squad rotation this year, expect all 22 to be in contention always.

Lots of coverage on Sportsnet's site on the even but next to nothing on TSN that I can find.

Just checked out the Toronto Star's sports section today, nothing at all on the league or York 9, which is a shame.

Ya it’s a shame but then again soccer coverage in general at times be it TFC or just general soccer has still an uphill battle to get into mainstream print media but it has improved over the years with TFC and slowing with the CPL now hopefully things will change even more .

With a few season ending injuries already (de Jong and Serban, at least), I'll once again ask if the league has any rules on injury replacements, and how it will effect the salary cap?

With strict roster rules and a cap it would be madness to simply not allow teams to replace long-term injured players - but I haven't seen anything about injuries and replacement players.

Perhaps a little too skeptical of an article on opening day for the entire league but I suppose it's in the nature of journalists to be that way. Still, at least he is writing about the league. Nothing at all from TSN that I was able to find this morning which is a shame, and arguably inexcusable from a network with such heavy soccer coverage in general.

On the plus side, our league has at least made livescore.com, even if it is way the hell down the page!

CBC, without question.
Support your national broadcaster, especially with the game for free on the main network.

I mean if you pay taxes CBC is supported. OneSoccer would have made the league look better to a company investing cash in them. (I had a screen on both.)
