Spent the beginning of the 2014-15 season in the fourth tier of Greece with Proteas, then signed with GS Kallithea of the second tier in January 2015 and has been with them since. jpg75
Good call, Stamopolous is a guy that has flown under the radar. Interesting that he was moved from MF to LB.

1996
It's funny how guys who play at comparable or even in some cases lower leagues have started meaningful games for Canada , this guy has never been called in even for a look, it's strange. I think he needs to move to a Scandinavian 4 tier or something to have a chance.
One American
What is the Greek second division like? I have no concept.

I know that it's considered a big drop off from the first division, but also have no idea what league to directly compare it to.

Bison44
He cant be unknown to the CSA if he was at TFC and then a US college for 4 years. Corbin-Ong finally got called, and Kapor is now listed on the CMNT website (with no picture). Cream will rise, even a LB. Keep spreading the word and maybe he'll get a look. Toje
James seems to be playing well this season with Panachaiki. He has played almost 90 minutes in every match so far this season. https://www.transfermarkt.com/james-stamopoulos/profil/spieler/353407 He has been called up to few Canadian U15 and U16 camps in the past. https://www.canadasoccer.com/?pid=3042&t=profile& Edited December 22, 2018 by Toje johnyb

Fullback
His team is playing PAOK in the next round. They are defending champions in the cup and are currently unbeaten in league play. Should be two good games for him to showcase himself in Greek football. johnyb and Toje
Fullback
So Stamopolous started both games against PAOK in the Greek Cup. Panachaiki actually won the first leg at home 2-1 which was PAOKs first loss against a Greek team this year. Unfortunately in the 2nd leg they were dismantled 5-0. I have no idea how he played in those legs (highlights are on youtube) but it seems promising that he is featuring in every game for his team. johnyb and Winnipeg Fury
Big_M
A litlle update He has spent now 6 seasons in the 2nd tier of Greece 3 with Kallithea and became a starter in the third one at left back and then always stayed a starter after that 1 season with Ergotelis Now 2 with Panachaiki with his contract listed as expiring this year Too bad he never got a call to the national team Turning 29 so wonder if he wants to end his career there or maybe go back to Canada johnyb and Winnipeg Fury 1

Big_M
Thats still a good level..and from 2016 to 19 he played a number of cup games against first tier teams as there is a group stage..some of which they won..so should have gotten a call and that was before cpl..good luck to him now for the final part of his career Winnipeg Fury

Is there anything in his game that makes you say that? Maybe it is not too late for him to make a senior team appearance before riding off into the sunset. 29 is not exactly over the hill, but he's likely on the way down it.
