What are The Cronenbergs Supporters? A Toronto CPL supporters' club

What do we do? Support the Toronto CPL club at games and at viewing parties or, if there isn't a Toronto CPL club, organise CPL viewing parties every week and make the league known in Toronto.

Why "The Cronenbergs"? It comes from David Cronenberg aka Toronto/Canada's greatest cinematic talent also it's a mega deformed mutant freak in Rick and Morty and I'm sure people will look at us and the CPL team as if we're mega deformed mutant freaks for going against the MLSE machine.

How to join? Reply to or like this post and we'll figure stuff out.

give me a shout if you need anything

Can you design us a logo that features someone in a TFC jersey's head exploding like in Scanners or something with The Brood with CPL badges on their coats or something with a 1963 Lincoln convertible?

What's wrong with a supporters group called the Cronenbergs?

It sounds more like a David Cronenberg fan club than anything else. A byproduct of it just being a person's name is that the connection to the city is secondary. Why is it called the Cronenbergs? Because there is a famous guy by that name, and that famous guy is from Toronto.

It might be a tiny bit better if the person chosen was synonymous with the city. Like if you play a word association game, how many words do you think the average person would have to go through before they got to Toronto?

He's not just some famous guy from Toronto. He's SUPER Toronto.

When Cronenberg's work is addressed, Toronto is often placed as a key trope along with bio and body horror, identity issues, mind tricks and sexual oddities. He has filmed almost all of his films here, doesn't hide it and he's built films around Toronto institutions.

He is to Toronto as Maddin is to Winnipeg.

Also you forget the later reason for the name. Since 2014, a "Cronenberg" is a freak and everyone will see us a freaks for following non-MLS Canadian soccer ;)

So, is this an actual group? If so, what if the group found a League1 Ontario club to support while waiting for CPL? Lots of possible CPL talent currently playing in Woodbridge, Vaughan and Sigma.

Or you know, you could support TFC III since they'll be in CPL as well....

L1o is one of the things to talk about at our first meeting actually. Was thinking branches may be in order because of how many teams there are around the gta.

Currently setting up the first meeting
