That fan base seemed to really dislike larin when I looked into last. Nice to see some of them at least coming around to him

Definitely. It wasn't like it was unwarranted criticism either he had a couple good games for them but was overall not very good. The expectation is win the league every single season so they can't have a striker come in and have 2 good games out of 16 or whatever it's just not going to work out

Feyenoord would be a nice move for Larin. I can see him scoring a lot of goals in Holland. Should get European football there, and/or challenge for silverware domestically. All the big leagues scout Holland. What's not to like?

Jonathan De Guzman!

Love this if it works out. Great place to go. He has started to get back on track. Going someone like the premiership with leeds might have put him back on a more perilous path to where he was at in Orlando. He seems to have grown a lot since then. Long may it continue.

Cap him!

Ah once again I must cheer for a player with a tenuous link to Canada and a strong link to a strong soccer nation to be a decent player -- but not too good -- so that he is rejected by said strong nation but still good enough to make a difference for Canada when he finally realizes the strong soccer nation won't cap him at age 27.

Just googled Jadon. Sure enough it looks like Jonathon's son from his Instgram page.

Looks about 13 or 14 in the pics.

Not much discussion of family planning in the De Guzman household back in the day, then? Both brothers have kids conceived out of wedlock* as teenagers, no?

*Not to be taken as a moralistic stance against extra-marital sexual relations.

I wonder if Julian's kid is a footballer too? I tried to find him online but having the same name made it tough.

Reading on Larin himself this morning

A Turkish site says that Zulte Waregem are bidding again - 1 million Euros instead of the option they had for 2.4 million

A Belgian site saying Anterwerp what him as a backup/compliment/insurance for 34 year old Dieumerci Mbokani - who tied Jonathan David on goals.

Seems like it’s less a case of Feyenoord wanting Larin and more a case of Beşiktaş trying to get rid of him, which is kinda disappointing:

"Feyenoord wants to trade Nicolai Jorgensen for Cyle Larin" In Home by admin on July 31st, 2020 No comments 0 SHARES Share Tweet Turkish Besiktas is interested in Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen and is willing to pay 3 million euros. Now the Turks would have come up with a completely different offer: a disguised exchange deal. According to Fotomac, Besiktas hopes to involve his current attack leader Cyle Larin in a deal for the Dane. Larin, a 25-year-old Canadian, has no future at Besiktas. Earlier at Zulte-Waregem in Belgium, he still did fine, with 7 goals and 10 assists in 29 appearances. His contract in Turkey will continue until mid-2022.”

Larin isn't in their plans, but two 29 year olds might be? Another case of Turkish football paying for older players at the end of their prime while getting rid of anyone who can still grow. This actually says more about Beşiktas than Larin.  Turkey is Europe's retirement league and has been for years. I hope Larin gets out of there and finds a team willing to let him play.
