A club could offer him a player/assistant coach - Front office job contract to transition from a player career to a coach or admin career.

39 might be "old" as a player but in life, that's still young. Having an opportunity to work in management in the sport you love is attractive.

Canada/CPL is where such players are the most likely to get such a gig like Paul Stalteri with York9

That is a seriously misleading headline. Looking around the globe for talented young players who they can help move on is smart business. It will benefit the Canadian game, and can be seen by good young players as a viable way to move up the footballing ladder.

I’m assuming you mean Daniel Fernandes?

GK spots are tight in this league. I could’ve seen him as a veteran in Edmonton to push James but I don’t it happens now. 
 

although, a guy like that could work out well as a safety net behind oxner in Halifax.
