I don’t see it as payback at all.  There are no more Canadian teams in the league and now there is the CPL, Canadians should be considered international players.  The same way Americans in the CPL sho

The league has nothing to gain business-wise doing this. You can be sure that the 3 MLS teams would use this precedent to apply pressure to get their reserve squads in the league cementing the "2nd ra

From TFC:

"Toronto FC has not exercised options on goalkeeper Caleb Patterson-Sewell, defender Ashtone Morgan, midfielders Aidan Daniels, Ryan Telfer and forward Jon Bakero."

"we also remain in contact with Nico and Ashtone regarding a potential return to the team for 2020."

Better that they play in CPL than not play in MLS.  Barring a move elsewhere I assume they would get picked up by a CPL team.

Probably too high priced for CanPL but Will Johnson out of contract, should be a MLS free agent and Dejan Jakovic's option not picked up by LAFC.

Those out of contract in MLS would likely be asking for less than they were making before. Just like the market, their stock went down and they could see CPL as a reset for their career leading to better leagues or back to MLS

This is where the salary cap is most frustrating (though I totally get why expenses have to be reasonable). There is a ton of talent floating around out there that would be a massive boost to the league if only we could afford it.

Jordan Hamilton's option not picked up by Columbus, Edwards not on Chicago roster, no mention of his status, no announcement from LAFC and Orlando.

According to MLS site Edwards extension was picked up by the club.  With all the guys they jettisoned maybe he gets a full year to play and hopefully impress.  Could be great depth for the CMNT.
