baulderdash77
Yes Petrasso looked good in League 1 as a winger when he was 20 but then got that knee injury and was moved to RB because Canada had no other RB. Those 2 moves seemed to basically derail a promising career a bit. Hopefully he has a great season on CPL this year (except when he plays Forge) and gets back on track. gator
Petrasso was moved to Right Wingback at QPR before he ever played there for Canada so he did have some experience playing that position! Blackjack15 and Winnipeg Fury

MM3/MM2/MM
126 players signed to date and not one American, being our closest neighbors would of expected a few signings from south of the border.

Think there are at least two American dual citizens, but there is a definite trend that probably hasn't happened by accident.
Senorpopps
Given the sheer number of USL teams and how weak the Canadian dollar is, I'm not surprised at the lack of American signings tbh. Their financial and professional opportunity atm is superior to ours, whether we like to admit it or not.

Still, it is an amazing statement to make. I mean: how many decent NCAA guys, or guys who were hot in PDL, and have even played in Canada, would have been good prospects. I am fine with it for a start, I am sort of perversely pleased, but don't think it is really a natural long-term solution, the most logical is to have a few Americans in the league. EDIT: sorry been watching too much Fox news again I feel like you’re joking, so... cool. But, I figured I’d point out 3 quick things: 1) I’ve watched Fox a lot over the years (it’s sensationalist garbage, but it’s a lot better than the usually predictable and vitriolic CNN et al) and I’ve never heard them mention Canada as being ‘sharia law abiding’. They probably have called us socialists at some point, so I’ll concede that; 2) most Canadian provinces (maybe all now) do not allow Sharia courts. The Arbitration Act, written by the Liberals and passed by the NDP, very clearly does not allow for it outside of maybe some narrow contractual issues (especially in any substantative area of family law because of Sharia’s treatment of women violating the Charter’s basic rights). A lot of people, left and right, have very legitimate concerns about Sharia, and that certainly doesn’t make them phobic or racist as some might imply. 3) Lots of great reasons to live in Canada, but there’s also lots of great things about the states. Americans are mostly good people who just want to get by, Trump supporters included. Apologies to everyone for discussing that which shall not be discussed, but to be fair - I never start it. Vince193
We technically have two, in Noah Verhoeven and Lukas McNaughton. And the latter isn't really a Canadian international like Verhoeven is, so at the moment he's the only American on a roster (I do recognise he's repped Canada at the University level, but that's not really a FIFA thing, which is what I'm going by). matty
not just americans but also central americans. many had spectulated one or the other would be the biggest blocks of players but it's def been the caribbean to take that title. it is surprising, as many i think speculated and some commentators even suggested cpl would pass both usl and many central american leagues in pay and likely be the best route to mls if you were outside a team system. curious if this is merely delayed

I feel like David Edgar is the big catch on that list. I’m not sure how good Mo Babouli is, but he might be worth a look, he’s still youngish. I haven’t spoken to Tomer in ages, but I used to play youth hockey with him when we were kids. He was a really good guy. He was always super supportive of teammates and he was just an all around great team player and natural athlete.

Vince193
I'm surprised at the lack of Central Americans. I'm a bit disappointed that for international players many teams have gone after random English players playing at low levels. Nathan Mavila has wash out written all over him, for example.
