Other than if TFC need him to play for TFC 2 for multiple years to fill out some sort of MLS homegrown play standard or something like that.... He's from Nova Scotia, Hart knows him, he played and scored the final penalty in the friendly with Fortuna Düsseldorf, and he probably has better shot at developing under Hart... How much has any attacking player gained from playing on one of the worst teams in the league in TFC2.... Attacking players need to see the ball to grow, and TFC2 barely sees the ball. At Halifax he would be guided by a very experienced coach, who plays an attacking style, and judging by recent signings, would surround him with players with significantly more experience than he would be at TFC2. TFC2 have 6 attacking players signed... Shaffelburg is the oldest and has 0 pro minutes played. If TFC really rate him, one could argue it makes more sense for them to loan him to Halifax, than keep him at TFC2. Remember that TFCII is in a lower division this season, so they should be able to see more of the ball. And I think you want to see how he handles being in Toronto and he just got there, he's not an known commodity to them. And, yes I know he's from Nova Scotia, but still he chose TFC, not Halifax. You want to know if he's good enough for TFC one day, and you want to see how he is day in day out, you won't see that if he's halfway across the country. Also, I don't think I see a lot of players getting loaned when they just arrived at a club. I would think that if it happens, that there must be something wrong with the player. I mean yes, your solution to this problem is a possible solution, but why invite the opportunity for the problem to occur in the first place? Rosters are already going to be small, injury problems will cause major issues, why risk this on top of it? The only way I can see a keeper loan happening is if an MLS team has 4 keepers. yea that sucks but that's a quite common style of loan worldwide and cpl should not make itself something else and draw attention to it's relationship with mls or own limitations Edited January 12, 2019 by matty

Mikmacdo
I think its Telfer to York9. He went to school there and is buried on the depth chart especially after they added Deleon and drafted Dorsey a winger.

Keegan
Victor Blasco said to be headed to Pacific FC. I’m guessing he’s an adopted BC guy now and has been there since his release from WFC2? Anyone know why he was released? I remember he was a top player for the 2nd team and turning heads and then seemed he just stopped playing. Barcelona product - would be a nice addition to the league and probably cheap. toontownman
DrummingInMySleep
I think PFC has arguably the most advantageous regional player pool in CPL as Ontario is undoubtedly more abundant in talent but already has 3 pro teams (of a similar level) competing for players. They would be be wise to snap as much BC Mainland talent as possible before they have to compete for players wanting to be close to home.

That wasn't the reason. People tried to put 2 and 2 together because an Instagram video surfaced around the time he got released. People are tight lipped about the actual reason, but it was something more serious.

Some of us spoke to him briefly two summers ago after a Mid Island Mariners match vs. Vancouver United, where he was clearly the best player on the pitch. I asked him what was up and of course he did not go into details, but did say he was pleased to have made the decision to study at Vancouver Island University, think he was doing Kinesiology or similar, and he said it was a question of the dedication he wanted to make to football. We had previously heard, as reported, that it was disciplinary related to pot smoking, but if that has been shot down, fine. I have never heard of the bust-up with Bustos until now. In any case, such an incident would not in itself get you dropped, not necessarily. I am not surprised by this as he is a strong player, he is from Mallorca, had been at Barça youth, and then, with the VIU soccer team a year ago they won the Canadian Collegiate Ath Association national championship, that's for smaller universities and colleges. Don't think he was with the team this year. Another close connection is that Merriman, I believe, was his coach at VIU, is that right? I would not be surprised if they sign a few other players from Nanaimo, precisely because of the mentioned connection.

ktf
Sounds like Wirth would be an ideal depth option in net for Pacific FC. Not sure what his day job is, but he could probably be had for very cheap. On another note, I have no doubt it has been discussed or mentioned somewhere, but what is Richie Laryea planning? I searched and could not see any updates beyond not getting a contract and not being selected in the MLS re-entry draft. He must be a prime target for Forge or York. Unnamed Trialist
More on Blasco. I see he was on the roster for this year at VIU. But later games was not playing, not sure why. The other player they say was good there, in fact the CCAA MVP a year ago, is a Japanese mid named Takano. I am not sure if he was one of the players who went to the trials in Victoria or not. In any case, perhaps similar to Blasco, though surely Victor has his residence and work status firmer than Takano, who was doing ESL I believe.
