Why are the Italian articles calling the March 22 game against Scotland a under 21?

Probably just telling their readership what level of play the Scottish and Canadian national teams are capable of. Like converting imperial to metric, or dollars to euros, they are converting Canadian/Scottish football to Italian.

Little underwhelming but ok. They opted to dig for someone buried deep in the past likely for cost.

Looking over his record and it's not exactly selling me on this guy being much better than Findlay and actually has me hoping FIndlay sticks around to help this guide out more than I was before.

I agree this is "underwhelming" although I didn't expect anything else.

i just don't understand how you can say you're not sure he's even better than Findlay. At least this guy had legit head coaching and technical experience. not sure what Findlay has ever done to get the benefit of the doubt from so many on this board

Zambrano is almost for sure a better coach than Findlay is but I'm a bit sketchy on this guy having two games to get ready for a major cup. His record as I said isn't selling me on him as a someone who can just walk in like some other guys that have been thrown around.

I've said before I don't trust Findlay's tactics but I do trust his knowledge of the player pool.

I'm hoping the duo are working together at least until the Gold Cup is done.

As long has he plays attacking football and am entertained while we lose (unlike floro) i'm ok with him. (Of course I want to win though)

Zambrano would certainly tick most people's boxes on this thread: MLS experience, experience in Latin America and speaks good English. The only drawback would be that he has no international coaching experience, but it seems like he'd be a very good fit overall.

You forgot the most important tick: he's a Barça fan, while Floro was whiter than white.

Who is Javier Livia? I'm reading an article that he's coming from Livorno in Italy to coach our U20s?

According to transfermarkt he is a fitness coach, was at Livorno but it was his only tracked position on there. Not that the site is hugely reliable for coaches roles but seems a strange on to take over the running of the u20s. Imagine having someone with no credentials as assistant and running the younger age group. Outrageous.

Peruvian....did similar work with various age groups for Peru, including their U20s and their full national team:

Looks to me to be more of a performance specialist rather than a traditional manager. My guess, after reading loads on 'Tavi tonight, is that the elder will call the shots and leave (what the CSA probably sees as a national shortcoming) the physical preparation to Livia.

Edit: Seems Livia had been out of work since the summer after the team was relegated.

He is not a big name but his CV is far more impressive than most of the guys you were advocating for.
