South Korea vs Canada - Friday November 11th (in Cheonan 천안시, Korea)

Recommended Posts

We might win this game. The Korean manager said he'll be testing out the new players, in a press conference. They have an Uzbek game (the important one for them) like 3 days after this one, so they'll "save" their best players for that, and won't expend a ton of energy for Canada.

A guy to watch out for is this guy:

Hwang Hee Chan (FC Salzburg) - only 20 years old, but he's being called the "Suarez of Korea".

Some key notes from the article:

1 - Leutwiller gets his first call-up (as we knew).

2 - Did not call players from teams in MLS/NASL playoffs or Euro teams in important point in season.

3 - Adekugbe, Levis, McKendry, Petrasso and Teibert not avaiable - due to injuries.

It's more than a little annoying that we don't call up players from the still active MLS teams that are supposedly helping the CMNT develop, while I'm sure the USMNT will call up players from those same teams. I'm looking specifically at TFC. Bradley and Altidore will for sure be called up for USMNT, but we stay away from Ricketts, Osorio, Johnson, even Jordan Hamilton who is not likely to make it in the game day 18 barring some kind of disaster (like Altidore getting hurt with the USMNT).

As it stands, IMFC and TFC are more than justified holding onto their players, they are amidst a deep playoff run and could be playing each other in the semi-finals shortly after this friendly. I am pretty certain TFC would tell the USMNT to buzz off in this particular scenario too

I assume it's CSA doing them a favour and not calling them up for a friendly.  US is Cup qualifying, big difference in Jozy and Bradley (or god help them Seba) leaving for that which they should.

Besides opens the door for other players to get time in and see what we have.

Which exact dates are in the FIFA international window? Is this match being held narrowly outside of it?

Our match is on a FIFA game day. The two HEX match days are the 11th (same as our game) and the 15th.

Since we're playing a single match, halfway around the world, I'm OK leaving some players off with their clubs for this one. Cheers!

Bret Levis getting a callup...why no Babouli or Hamilton - granted they are with TFC, but they aren't even on the game day roster?

Gawwwd damn McKendry? getting a honourable call up...seriously? how about Mark Anthony Gonzalez, or Michael Cox even Tyler Pasher!!! They've all had better seasons then McKendry.

With those kind of call ups, some players are going to ask themselves "what do I have to do to get a call up"!

If Tfc are releasing Bradley and Altidore for international games clearly they are not a factor towards why Osorio and Johnson don't get called up (Cough...Cough.....Floro)
